Local media trolling

Seems like lately we are being led to believe that kids are all Miami, to the point of possibly an imminent commitment, then all of a sudden a flurry of articles come out about the kid looking around, and all of a sudden new favorites and Miami plummets to the middle or bottom of the pack...

Is this a new trolling tactic by the insiders and media to keep the clicks coming, and the drama at a soap operaish day to day level? I know, I know, it's Crootin but **** its becoming cyclical, and at the end of the day sheds a negative perception on Miami and their coaching staff, if indeed it's being partially or totally fabricated or sensationalized

Thoughts.?..

Pardon my saying so but none of the "local media" that follows this team seem bright enough to intentionally troll people. Have you listened to their interview questions?

No. I think it's a couple of things.
1. Visits...Many kids want to take free trips, coaches know this, so some schools(Hawaii/Oregon) only give visits if the player really appears to be serious or commits to them, because they know so kids just want to visit someplace they haven't been, so kids are trying to appear to be as neutral as possible. The same thing happens with top 5 lists, when teams won't let you come on a visit because you don't have them in your top 5, kids stop making top 5s, and start making top 20s.
2. Social Media....Some kids just want to increase followers, so even though in their heart, they are committed they troll different fanbases to get their #s up. Silly as ****, but everything is competition with these kids.
3. Avoiding Embarrassment... Crootin is crootin and sometimes kids get bumped, so some start off reppin a school they know they can get into, but if their dream school offers they are gone. So you rep the U until bama or somebody calls.
4. Analysts - like you said many of these guys are just pumping up the fanbase so they can get $, and they spin things that make it seem like a kid is really interested. Fitzpatrick visits miami, likes the fact that Golden is from the NE, Fitzpatrick likes the National champs, Fitzpatrick likes Pruitt's defense, Fitzpatrick likes what Saban does with his DBs. I recently saw an analyst list a top 4 for a team, but the mom called him on it and said another school was the leader.

Its simple kids just tell the reporters what they want to hear, the only time you should believe is when they actually commit other than that they just twist words around for clicks on the site and for people to pay

Don't forget some reporters who work for subscription based sites will put headlines that can possibly pull more subscriptions. They will use what the recruit says but it will be edited to sell to the base.

Kids often love what they know, and until they are able to seriously talk to other coaches and visit other places they don't know what they don't know.

In any case, it's kind of early to get too twisted about recruiting. It's just April.

This. Each reporter asks questions favorable for the school doing the interview. It's why you read/listen to interviews and its seems like a kid favors 5 different schools. The reporters do the recruits a disservice to sell subscriptions.

Only people trolling fans are fanatics who consider kids "locks" just because they're from here. That's where local media gets their "info" from.

I think every fanbase thinks they r being "trolled" when in fact it happens everywhere. nobody can understand why a kid would want to play for anyone other thn the school they r a fan of. its just life

This. Reporters covering sports in South Florida are just garbage. I can't even follow them on Twitter. Never thought 140 characters would be just as bad as their full-length articles.

Did the mom know what the kid was thinking?

I think so, its the running back from KY, that was a Michigan commit, he's on twitter with five or six different team jerseys on, I think he's just having fun. She said they liked the coach that left, and are trying to establish ties with the new guy, but also looking, but if he were to sign today it would be Michigan. She was pretty defensive. Mike Farrell made the comments BTW

theres a lot of money, girls, trips and fun to be had. If you were 18 and you could get a free trip, cash, your *** kissed, gear and hot puss* for a weekend in a cool town, wouldn't you?
