Bringing back the old (sometimes rather "old") coach to relive their past glory is a fool's errand, and never turns out the way you dreamed it would.

In college or the NFL:

It didn't work out for John Robinson and USC ….

It didn't work out for Johnny Majors and Pitt …

It didn't work out for Bill Walsh and Stanford ….

It didn't work out for Chuck Knox and the Rams ….

It didn't work out for Mark Whipple and UMass ….

It didn't work out for Joe Gibbs and the Redskins ….

It didn't work out for Bobby Petrino and Louisville ….

And it's not going to be so great for UNC either. Can't believe they would be that delusional … then again, maybe I do. The good news is that UNC is going to flounder for the next few years until they figure that out. Good riddance.

Joe Gibbs was successful in his second tenure.

I’d argue Petrino was somewhat successful too.

OP is right, of course.

I'm surprised, though, at the level of "give a fvck" on this board about who UNC is hiring as it's next head coach.

Just goes to show where we are as a program, both due to recent history and the lack of actual progress in the Richt era. If we really are so much better off for Richt's stewardship of the program as his slurpers say we are, nobody here would give a got **** second of thought about who UNC has as their coach. It wouldn't matter.

It's a great thing when CiS creates a website that allows and assists the seeing impaired to sign up and poRst here.

But according to many on here Butch would've definitely worked here Haha

From a bot member, the goal is to hire an oc (Kingsbury is their top choice) and he will be coach in waiting. I found this out Saturday night and thought he was joking. Brown wasn't even on the list, he contacted UNC 2 weeks ago when it was first decided Fedora was gone. Miles taking Kansas was a shock, that was the guy a few of their BOT wanted. App St guy, Memphis coach were on the list. Also heard they were very interested in Clemson OC
