LIVE THREAD: Miami vs Virginia, ACC Tournament Semifinals

It was a frustrating night, mostly because the one thing that Miami has consistently done all year(SHOW EFFORT) didn't happen. This team doesn't quit, but it appeared they did tonight. You can control effort, you can control fight, even when things aren't going well, you can still continue to scrap. Once things went left, it became "Every man for themselves", and that's unacceptable. I expected better from Donaldson and Reneau tonight, they straight up mailed it in.

Udeh gave everything he could, I will say him and Washington were the two guys that truly cared.
I think that we've been playing close to our ceiling for the last 2 months. Some of these other teams had a higher ceiling and are still ascending. We knew that we had no depth. We knew that we had no outside, 3pt or free throw shooting.

That was never going to be a sustainable formula against well coached and talented teams.

Jai has a lot more to do to build sustained winning, but he is well ahead of schedule.

4 for 20 on threes won't get it done against really good teams.

Tired legs from the day before against Louisville for a team that's not deep at all?

Well said.

Now the real Tourney starts and no reason we can't acquit ourselves well and give us all some chills and thrills in the first couple rounds.

Anything can happen in a 1 game win or go home scenario. We've got talented guards, an all ACC forward and a good coach so lets go!!
We nearly got beat in the 8/9 game against USC in ‘22 and then wound up going to the Elite Eight.

All of the doomsdayers here thinking one game is going to dictate what happens clearly doesn’t watch basketball this time of year

We nearly got beat by Drake in the 5/12 game in '23 and went to the final four

I actually had high hopes for that team that made the elite 8. In my bracket I put them into the Elite 8 and losing to Kansas. I knew that was there potential and they did it. This team? I feel they can win a game maybe 2 but I wouldn't be shocked if they lost round 1.
For a team that can't shoot 3s-Reneau, Tru and Tre all shoot pretty well. Dovrat has been a revelation from 3 at over 40% yet somehow we get too many games like last night, 4 for 20. As a team they shoot better from 3 than the Elite 8 team but 6% pts less at FT. I hope they go far, I just don't trust it. Good thing is they're in almost every game, last night being the main exception. So we can probably expect close games everytime if they give 100% effort.

Let's hope whatever the **** that was yesterday is purged from the system and we can get back to the way we've been playing all season. Willing to believe that was an aberration.

This is my exact hopes. We haven’t gotten blown out like that all year. I wouldn’t expect to see the same.
