LIVE THREAD: Miami vs. Louisville, ACC Tournament Quarterfinals

I know it’s probably not likely given we’re in March but can we start playing with that level of effort we saw defensively in 2H in 1st halves of games? Let’s start tomorrow night against UVA. This team is dangerous man. Just one or two things from truly being a deep run threat in my opinion

Losing Allen was a kick in the nuts. He looks to be doing well. Timo is unplayable and that's why he never saw the floor in the second half. The look on Jai's when he pulled him told us everything. Allen would have given us good minutes. Can somebody tell Dovrat to stay on the perimeter?

We ratcheted up the defense in the 2nd half but we were very active in first half. I believe a game 24 hours before and our constant pressure took its toll in the second half. They weren't all that close on their 3s.

To me, the turning point was when both Tru and Shelton decided they were going to play free, athletic, and aggressive/physical. Once that happened, their steals/buckets came easily. A team like Louisville, you've got to match their physicality 1 thru 5, and we did.

That's the problem w/Malovec and Dovrat. They need to be comfortable with the physicality, and they're just not, especially Malovec. That needs to be the offseason emphasis for both, to get stronger and get used to the beating of ACC and D1 basketball in general. You can shoot - that's great, but you'd better be able to take a bump/hit when needed.

That 10-0 run was massive and had me thinking if we have had any 10-0 runs this year 🤣 feels like we’re not a team that goes on very many runs like that

Except Timo can't shoot.

Dovrat tries to do too much off the dribble.
With most players you want them to make lay ups and shorter shots before taking 3’s. With Dovrat he needs to hit 3’s, and then go off the dribble.

Canes D won it today. That's what Jai wants.
Not to take anything away from Jai (ive been a fan since Day 1) but I suspect some Coach L influence persists; after all he is still on staff and attends every game. The Final 4/Elite 8 Coach L teams were similarly gifted (on D when the refs allowed) and when the so-so shooters got hot, well, the sky was the limit. Hoping for dejas vu.
