Line in the sand

I’m not a fan of the hire because it all looks pre-determined.

At Flakes press conference around noon we were going to have a nationwide and thorough search to find our next HC.Not my words.Flakes.Less than 6-8 hours later Manny is named the HC.

Nationwide search? Thorough search? That’s some serious dialing and even quicker rejection by everyone contacted if it was.

I’m willing to see what happens when Manny fills out his staff.If Jon Jon is anywhere around this team,I mean anywhere on campus then i’ll Know that the rumor is true that Richt walked away without a buyout with the stipulation Manny was kept and he would keep his son on staff.

I said yesterday I’ve been at this for 60 years now and I’ve had more ups and downs with this program than a 7 yr old with a new pogo stick so I’m willing to give the people in charge another chance to get this right.Show me they have any interest at all in winning.

Let’s see what the end result is when Manny fills out his staff.Ill make my determination if I want to continue on this roller coaster when it’s filled out.

Not a fan of the hire. I do not want someone with no HC experience cutting his teeth at Miami (Shannon anyone?)

That said, I’ll draw my line after he’s had a chance to ****can most of the staff and hire guys.

most of the focus is on the O and understandably so .... but here is the money question ... is Diaz going to hire a REAL
experienced DC and demote his little buddies who, like Diaz, have ZERO experience in their new job as co-DCs ?
 
Put me on record as saying I don’t like it. It’s lazy. It’s short term thinking. We had a chance to completely change the culture and instead we went with a safe pick. We had a chance to truly innovate our offense and we opted for a defensive minded coach who isn’t a great recruiter.

With that said, I hope I’m wrong and I’m going to be supportive of Manny and this team. It’s been said 100x but his OC will define his tenure.

I’m with you 100%. Banda and Patke as DC’s was one of the stupidest moves. He should bring in an experienced guy at DC.

I for one am not a slurper and think this is an absolutely bad hire. We needed to go after Babers

If Diaz succeeds I’ll be the first to eat crow but I can not slurp Diaz at this time.

I'm guessing less than 10% of the posters here are thrilled with Manny as HC, but 80%+ will likely wait to see how he builds staff, finishes the class and go from there.
 
Diaz was not in my top 4. I'll give him a chance. If I don't see development I'll be back here *****ing like the last 2 guys.

Sadly, Butch will be even older then.
 
I went on a rant last night about Diaz. Partly b/c I was liquored up, but part b/c I know we didn’t do any due diligence as per this tweet.



However, it’s not a truly bad hire, when I reflect on him getting the attention of his defense. But we need a fix on S&C, OL, QB coach, and OC. So I apologize for the rants at certain posters.

I want to be optimistic w Manny due to his true love for So Fla, and hopefully his dad arranges for certain refs to be paid......lol nvm. But let’s see who he brings in on staff. He may have a real vision for Miami.

We def owe him at least 3 yrs w the mess that’s been created from lack of player development, poor recruiting/attrition and that toxic locker room. I just want to see real improvements, even if it’s year by year.

Manny better find the right OC and let HIM fire folks and hire the ones HE wants. That's just prudence.
 
This slurper thing really is the province of stupid people. I will objectively support and criticize. That’s all. But fun word.
 
I’m holding judgement til I see the staff, he’s a talker like Golden which is pulling me in but also not making fall for the trap either. Very conflicted. Lol
