Extension means nothing except for the buyout. His buyout is 10 million if he leaves before 2020 UNLESS the AD, Danny White leaves before 2020. If White leaves, Heupel's buyout drops to a very manageable 5 million. White is a 100x better AD than James, so kill two birds with one stone.

I like that scenario and those guys, but 2020?

And I'm sure UCF won't let those guys walk like Frost did.

UCF wont have a choice. I am almost certain the AD doesn't have a massive buyout, as ADs don't really get those. And Heupel's contract says the buyout drops to 5 mil if White leaves. If Heupel wants to follow White, UCF will probably settle on a buyout in the 3.5 mill range so it can move quickly to get a new HC, because it kills recruiting to hear that a HC wants to leave but is being held hostage by his buyout.
