When all the UM crystal balls were coming in just before he committed, I thought I saw a tweet (or retweet) from Gaby warning that Cantwell would be dropping in the new rankings and it was "unrelated" to his upcoming commitment. Cleanup in isle 5 mode.

However, the tweet is gone from his timeline. Anyone remember it or archived it?

I don't GAF when Baby Urethrae says they started working on the "new rankings," had he committed to one of the other 3 programs, he would NOT have fallen to #10, which is more than "just a smidge." I have been following this stuff for too long to fall for the freshly-painted-house trick. These guys are realtors, they need fresh listings to generate clicks and access information.

Not even to save 247, but posters on this board said Pepe>Cantwell for a long time. Cantwell struggled at the AA game like DMoney said, and others that watched the game saw. Also, all our commits didn't drop because Congdon(should've been a 4-star) got bumped up.

Cantwell isn't coming from the best comp. I know everyone wants to compare him to Francis, but I think his development might be similar to Samson.

Appreciate this post. I was about to ask when the actual update came through.
Not accuarate. I have receipt, screenshot. He was 3 overall and 1 OT by 247 before announcing to Miami. 247 dropped him today to 10 overall and 3 OT.

Again, to make things clear.

What has happened in the past 6 months to necessitate this rankings shakeup, particularly among the OL guys?

When that question is answered, maybe people wouldn't think this **** is so random and petty.

There have been a ton of offseason circuit camps where guys like Ojo have performed well. Ojo is also really young for the class and thus likely has a bit more projectability in his body.

We hate on the recruiting services but then when 247 says we have the best defensive line class in the country (a la '23), we screenshot it and post it on Twitter once a week to argue with Florida fans.

If we are being honest, I'd prefer someone like Ojo to Cantwell because of his age and his athleticism. But obviously no one knows who will be better in 2-3 years.

I’ve wondered about this since I first started paying attention to recruiting. How can a player’s rank go up or down during the off season? Especially linemen who don’t participate in flag football 7 on 7 garbage.

I mean, we all know the real reason and it has to do with keeping/adding subs. People don’t pay attention if the list gets stagnant. Especially once all the top guys commit. But what is their actual reasoning behind adjusting ranking during a period where nobody is actually playing football? What excuses do they tell the public for this?

There have been camps and combines and Cantwell participated in one. That is one data point.

There have been several evaluation data points, and when kids rise in rankings that means someone has to fall.

Ya’ll need a new hill to die on lol. I wish ya’ll were this passionate about us blowing the churches money every November on the field. for the past 4895050 years

With all due respect…wtf are you talking about? Cantwell is 16 and almost 6’8 330?
