Lightfoot penalty (something that wasn't discussed)

I’m looking forward to our sun bowl in El Paso .. with any luck it will be snowing again and see another half back option pass in it
Only if we’re following our time honored Sun Bowl tradition of going in with an interim coach.

Lightfoot did what You're taught at a young age. He played until he heard the whistle. Obviously, he didn't hear the whistle. Blame Mario for calling a timeout on 4th and 8th and allowing SMU to gather themselves

It's a call the ref can make (obviously, because they did), but it's a call you shouldn't make. Bain stopped playing, but Lightfoot AND the OL trying to block him kept playing. The OL pushes Lightfoot in the back. And, as others have said, he didn't follow through and wreck the guy. He hit him (not very hard) and then he and Bain held him up. If he knocks him to the ground, yeah, make the call. This was a weak call at a horrible time.

The reason for the TO is that stupid reasoning to “see the offenses lineup” and then make a change. Like they won’t run a different play out of a TO with some time to think… I’ve always hated that TO call their flustered and know they need to get a 1st and you have them pinned back with Bain and lightfoot teed off readyb
Yeah I’m one who normally defends those timeouts in big situations. But that one was hard to defend. Because the offense did seem a little rattled and sputtering and because in the chance they got it(which they did), having the extra timeout would’ve gave us a chance to take a couple shots down the field and see if we could get Davis in FG range.

We absolutely outplayed SMU. The refs boned us big time, but Mario made too many mistakes to get pass tonight

Another clearly on the shoulders of Mario with all his stupid irrational time outs that really made a big difference between winning and losing. That was the worst officiating I've ever seen and I've been around the block. So many crucial calls that went against us especially the QB fumble

No it wasn't. He didn't hear the whistle. Once he did it was too late. He actually tried to catch the QB.
Man I don't wanna hear it. Everyone hear the whistle but that fool huh. He was the only going full speed and didn't realize till after he smacked the QB lol.. Natural instincts pose to kick it somewhere in between..also still blame Mario for the horrible timeout
