Let's see how we respond after a loss

We have watched supposedly good coaches let 1 loss become several, while our schedule appears to be lesser competition so thought PSU with UCLA and Northwestern. So did FSU after losing to us and UVA.

This did not start Friday night, it started in the 4th qtr of the FSU game. This team either has leadership or not but this is not a new thing for Mario's Cane teams, he finds himself in familiar territory but they have a chance to do things differently than past teams, win the next game and focus on that and only that. Maybe we can find some leaders on the team in the process of showing why this team is different, but it needs to come from the players, if I had more Malachi Toneys on this team I would like to find them against Stanford and the rest of this season.

If we come out and run the table the rest of the way, I’m blaming the double bye week Friday night BS. But at the end of the day it will come down to how Beck plays.

Really? Scheduling? Not 4 INT’s lol I mean we lose the game by 3 while losing the turnover battles by 3. Turnovers are so huge

Yeah. Did you read the last sentence of my post. It will come down to how Beck plays. But the double bye week obviously wasn’t ideal to begin with. Something was off with the entire team. You could see if from the beginning

If we come out and stomp Stanford and take care of SMU then we can see this as a blip. If we stumble and bumble with Stanford or lose to SMU we can see we been found out and our coaches have no answer. UF, FSU and UL all employed the same gameplan. Other teams will as well.

They get judged on results this season, zero excuses.

The issues with this team didn’t start in the 4th quarter of the FSU game they’ve been there all season long. The board not only chose to overlook and excuse them but brow beat anyone who had the audacity to bring them up.

“STFU bro we beat UF”

No doubt great win but look how many points we left off the board while getting the ball at midfield most of the game…

“Bro this is one of the best defenses we’ll face all year and it was raining bro”

It’s not the best defense we’ll face all year and they were missing 4 of their top DL, 3 of which are starters…

“We best FSU we the best in the nation”

Great win but the offensive concerns are still there which almost resulted in them overcoming a 19 point deficit and winning that game late….

“Bro STFU this a rivalry game and all that matters is the win, WE STATE CHAMPIONS!!!”

Again great to win but it’s a program that hasn’t won a conference game in 2 years in the “bum *** ACC” and while being State champs is a must this isn’t ****en High School football!!!

Now it’s they ate the rat poison, the double bye week, the Friday night game at 7pm and my personal favorite the fans weren’t rowdy enough…”not that it’s an excuse” yet we have to mention in every thread to plant the seeds. Next it will be the “fans are too mean to Mario online and it’s really affecting his psyche and game day performance”…

All excuses but the issues still remain, this is an offense averaging less than 26 points a game against four P4 opponents. Only 1 of which is truly known as a defensive team that has a defensive minded HC and two which will fire their HC before year end.

None of this will change until MARIO gets his meaty fat fingers out of the offense, stops dictating his run scheme and conservative play style.

Am I concerned that we lose to Stanford?? Not really but I am concerned that it will cost us atleast 1 more game this season effectively ending all the mental gymnastics about an 11-1 non ACCCG participant making the playoffs.

It’s ok though as we already identified our next scapegoat in Dawson. So I’m confident Mario will make the necessary adjustments the only time he knows when and get himself his 6th coordinator in 5 years this offseason….

Death, taxes, and Mario hiring another coordinator.

I've got to admit I've become addicted to the coaching search buzz. It's become the most most anticipated part of the season because of the false hope it brings that maybe this will be the guy who can over come all that Mario lacks.
