Let's just keep it real

So Dawson has flaws. Okay.

Just so I understand the standard, which coordinator in all of college football has it all figured out? Like, THAT’S the guy who doesn’t have flaws.

Looking forward to your answer, and the data to support it.
Hometeam I actually was being nice by using the word “flaws” but he always have games where his gameplan is nonexistence for a quarter or two…I don’t need to post data to support it. You can just watch the games for yourself to see what I’m talking about.

Like I said, I’m not talking down on the man bc I do think he’s a good OC but I’m not going to say he’s anything more or less… JMHObservation.

To answer this question, they caught on camera what looked like Mirabal telling Dawson what to run while on offense or relaying what Mario wanted.. Also at one point, Mario had playsheet? This was on camera they say.. I guess we need tv copy but I know for sure Mirabal walked right up to Dawson while calling plays and told him something
I caught the Mirabal interaction. Neither one looked happy. Dawson didn’t look or respond to Mirabal after Mirabal said something to him.

Didn’t see Mario with play sheet

I don’t think Hetherman has been nearly as good as he was last year. But he also doesn’t have Bain, Mesidor, Scott, I can keep going.

We are also severely impacted by injuries. Losing Poyser last night was huge as well. I know he kept coming back into the game, but Fitzgerald’s injuries didn’t help.

I’m not going to label Hetherman as a one hit wonder. I think he made some crucial mistakes yesterday but there’s literally zero coaches in the history of any sport who have made zero mistakes.

At some point we have to stop comparing this team to the team that beat TAMU, Ohio State, Ole Miss and was 40 yards from a title. It’s as if people have forgotten how bad we looked last late October/November. I mean I remember people ****ting on Bain’s play, specifically the Louisville game. Just let the season progress and stop knee jerk reacting to every single game. Five teams are undefeated. We are one of them and take that for what it’s worth rn.
Don’t forget tendencies. There’s a lot of film out there on Heatherman now. With that and all the injuries he is going to have to change it up.

UNC will be all over the defense

We grossly underestimated an above average rival. I did not think we were going to win by 20 as I’ve watched plenty of FSU games this year. They’ve lost close games to good teams and routed a decent UVA group. We’re never going to play perfect every week. We didn’t last year against SMU or Louisville. FSU gave us their absolute best and we played like dog**** if I’m being honest but still won. AP overwhelmingly voted us #1 because hey, Georgia got embarrassed by an even worse Auburn team.

Its the pros and cons of a team lead by Mario.

Bonehead decisions and sometimes slow to adapt. They come out sleepy sometimes.

But the team is physical, they never give up, and seem to like playing in big games.

Its year 5. We know what we're dealing with.
Sounds like a lot of teams in college football.

You don’t accept nothing in a win that you wouldn’t in a loss…. Great win for the Canes
Rivalry game…against a better opponent we might not have been as lucky…Our DC put some players in bad situations for no said reason other than to look at me I’m smarter than you and almost cost us the game…

I think it was the perfect get-right game for UM. If UM had rolled FSU, some other coordinator for a better team would have exposed UMs tendencies on offense and especially on defense. Now the coaches can change things up.

Won’t be an emotional let down after the game. I think you can get emotional hangover when win or lose you leave it all on the field. Miami played like **** and the players will see that on film and know they got very lucky.
Dawson and Mario both have headsets...they can comm directly. Mirabal doesnt that I saw...but he can vocally comm o-line details that might help Dawson decide on plays on the fly. It is a coaching staff...not singular isolated coaches wearing similar clothes standing near each other. My two "sense".

Imagine winning a rivalry game that has been the closest matchup the past 25 years in the sport (separated by 7 points total)

Waking up #1 and still being mad.

We can always count on some of our fans to lead the way trashing the team.

Has the team's performance been perfect? No. But people are lacking perspective. This point last year we were 5-1 coming off a bad and avoidable loss to Louisville. 2 games later, we had a second loss against SMU. Everyone thought we were trash and the team turned it around, improved, and made it tonthe national championship driving with a chance to win it all.

This season, Miami is 6-0 and the number one ranked team in the country. I feel like people are just glossing over that. We're ranked number one. We have been waiting and driving ourselves crazy for two decades for times like this. And we still have room to improve. A lot of room to improve. The team, coaches, etc can get better. And we have seen them do it before, just last season. A lot of people need to stop being soft and need to stop their *****ing, it was never going to be easy. Go Canes.

Everyone is really overhyping a sorry UNC team. They've just played other sorry ACC teams that make them look half competent. Bill isn't doing anything special.

@RVACane won't let me do it but I will delete my account if UNC scores more than 20 on us. Pitt too for the record

Except I believe that occurred right before we went jumbo and ran the play action to Lofton for the TD. So the idea that Mirabal just comes over to Dawson and tells him to run is unsubstantiated and goofy.

Dawson was really good when he needed to be. We also left some big plays out there, including a likely long TD for Mali that ended up as a sack, because our OL couldn’t block a stunt.

Heatherman’s plan relied on Lucas being able to cover in 1v1s and he clearly struggled with that in the 2H. Maybe should’ve adjusted. Injuries are obviously a factor and Poyser being out was a huge deal.

I'm sorta with OP about 70% of the way.

From inside the stadium you can see that our DB's regularly look confused and out of position. I luv Heatherman as our DC but he needs to start finding ways to disguise his blitzes or break some tendencies with them in some way.

And now for the part no one wants to admit: Without the ACC refs stepping in last Saturday, this could have been a Mario Special; Losing at home to a double digit dog. Personally, I put this game on Mensah more so than anyone else. He was constantly looking for Heisman reel plays instead of leading the offense. He left a ton of yards and points on the field last Saturday.

If the players shouldn't feed into the "rat poison" of a mid-season #1 ranking, neither should the fans.

It is amazing.
It reminds me of being in Philly for a week many years ago, listening to their local sports talk radio with their hosts and callers relentlessly ripping the Phillies who at the time were in first place.
I was asking myself what I was missing.
Lol.

It's crazy how all of-the-field issues has died down with UNC football. I guess this happens when on-field results improve.
I would NOT underestimate a team with Bellichik and Petrino on the sidelines.

More worried about Petrino than Belichick.
