Can someone post the frame by frame (in HD) of Walton using the broadcast footage?

I've watched it dozens of times, the ball looks like it is moving backwards before the knee is down. The replay angle is actually useful for determining that, looking over his right shoulder from the back. Anyone?

If anything there is inconclusive evidence that his knee touched the ground while he still had possession of the ball.
Isn't that what happened on Sirk's TD with 6 seconds left?

Why is this any different?

Because Sirk had full possession of the ball (and didn't break the plane because he was stuffed by Juwon, but that's another story). Walton was, per the rulebook, not in true possession of the ball...so he can't be ruled down. He was basically mid-fumble.

They can circle the knee in that **** freeze frame pic all they want. Walton was down just as much as Grace was in a 3-point stance in the F$U game.

If you rule Walton down when the ball is on it's way out, even if it's a controlled fumble of sorts, then there are a ton of fumbles throughout history where you'd have to overturn fumbles recovered by a defense because the ball was still touching the player's hand, but was on the way out when the knee hit. Can you imagine how many ****ed off teams there would be if you started overturning fumbles just because a hand was barely touching the ball when the knee hit?

This isn't the same as a pass play, either. If the ball is beginning to move away from Walton's body, and he's in mid-fumble, losing possession just before the knee hits...he can't be ruled down.

We don't have to do a **** thing. Canes were NOT the officials. We play into our enemies' hands by continuing the discussion. All we need to say is CANES WERE NOT THE OFFICIALS, and wear a smug look.
