Now that we real coaches in place, and alot of Talent coming back and into the program; Let's break down how our 2021 defense should look.

DE1 - Jafari Harvey (rsSO) - Chantz Williams (SO)

DE2 - Deandre Johnson (rsSR) - Cameron Williams (rsSO)

DE Breakdown - Going to be tough to replace 2 NFL guys in Phillips and Roche, but there's still a ton of talent for Jess Simpson to work with here. Johnson was a big veteran pick up who hopefully can bring what Roche brought, plus a little more. Harvey, Cam WIlliams and Chantz give Simpson a ton of raw talent to develop

DT1 - Nesta Silvera (SR) - Jordan Miller (rsJR) or Elijah Roberts (SO)

DT2 - Jordan Harrison-Hunte (rsSO) - Leonard Taylor (Fr) or Jon Ford (rsSR)

DT Breakdown - Tons of Talent. Nesta and JHH should start IMO. With another full offseason, really expecting JHH to make a huge jump this year especially with Simpsons coaching. Roberts and LT are waiting in the wings for real playing time too. DTs should benefit hugely from having Simpson as their coach. Really excited for this position

Striker - Gilbert Frierson (SR) - Keontra Smith (JR)

Striker Breakdown - Not much changes here, just hope to see Gil and Keontra continue to develop to another level. Patke has done a good job with this position and there's a lot of talent to push these two (Chase Smith, Jalen Harrell)

MLB - Corey Flagg (SO) - TAC (SO)

WLB - Sam Brooks (JR) - Avery Huff (rsSO)

LB Breakdown - This is the position most up in the air, and thank god we have Travis Williams to coach up and develop some real LBs. IMO I want to see 4 guys listed on the field the most. We really can't be trotting out McCloud and Jennings anymore. Spring will be huge.

CB1 - Tyrique Stevenson (JR) - Al Blades (SR) - Isiah Dunson (SO)

CB2 - DJ Ivey (SR) or Te'Cory Couch (JR) - Marcus Clarke (SO)

Nickel - Te'Cory Couch (JR)

CB Breakdown - I know everyone hates him but watch what T Rob does with DJ Ivey this year. I think you see a Mike Jackson type season or better. Couch, Stevenson, and Ivey could give us a very solid 3 CBs with good coaching coming from T Rob

FS - Gurvan Hall (SR) - Avante Williams (rsFR) - Kam Kitchens (FR)

SS - Bubba Bolden (rsSR) - James Williams (FR)

S Breakdown - If Bubba can develop even more and play the whole year like he did for the first 4 games, he's a 1-3rd pick. Gurvan has been a huge disappointment but there were glimpses in his Sophomore year, and T Rob will either get that out of him or move on to the talent right behind him in Williams and Kitchens. T Rob needs to keep Amari Carter away from the field lol

Overall we should see improvement at all Positions except maybe DE where we lose a ton of talent (3 NFL guys). DT and LB development will be key

Nice list right up until the CB spot. As great as Trob is he can’t make chicken salad out of chicken****, just like he can’t make a Power five starting CB out of a guy who runs about a 4.8 forty and has hips as stiff as Iron rebar‘s. He’s not a magician man and you guys have to let Ivey go, he doesn’t have it and that’s that! He’s a group of five level player that was a terrible eval because he simply doesn’t have the spreed or hips to play the position. Maybe he could be a safety in the power five level but even that’s a maybe. Just let it go man, because if Ivey is starting it just shows that many more warts on Rumphs complete lack of recruting that were continuing to trot out a group of five guy out there to start in Ivey.

You know, we'll see a half step back from DE play, but the DL as a whole will be better and will generate more net pass rush than this past year's because of Simpson, T-ROb, and the rest of the revamped D staff.

We need one DE and one LB if the NCAA allows transfers to not count the first time!

DT and S should be the strength of the D. If the DT does well, it will improve the LB and DE play as well.

Thinking about the Linebackers 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

We better not see Jennings , McCloud and carter for any meaningful Snaps

I’m legit worried Bc we kept trotting out pope and Wiggins no matter how bad they were
So maybe manny’s senior favoritism trumps all
You will see them lol..hopefully for the LBs Huff and Brooks play to their athleticism profille. As for Carter he will most likely be one of the 3 Safeties in rotation. Especially early on. Unless Tae really gets right, balom, Harrell show up in spring camp and ball...don’t forget About Keyshawn also. That safety room will be crowded

Out of 11 starters this is your take?

Just need to find 2 backers who can play. That’s literally it. Give me two slightly above backers and with Manny calling the defense and Shoop’s influence, this is easily back to a Top 20 defense.

Pair that with the literal most experienced offnese in the country with the entire staff back, it’s gonna take a complete ****up to not win 10 games.

you can't shine s^&t Ivey has shown he doesnt have the athletic ability to be a starter here. Stop with T-rob will coach him up when you have couch, dunson, and clarke there. you dont win big starting kids like wiggins, Ivey, Gaynor, etc. they are limited.

Hopefully trob and Williams tell manny straight up his loyalists are trash and we need to roll with the studs
LB spot is clogged up with guys who arent miami material.. They should be asked to leave, we are like 10 deep for 2 spots.. It would be better for everyone..

It will be interesting to see if the NCAA adds spots after NSD. If they do and we can get the USC linebacker, we'll have a solid front.

If we can get competent linebacker play, we’ll be alright. I don’t think we have anyone as good as Jaelan Phillips on the defensive line but we should be able to have a much deeper rotation this year. 2 and 15 almost never left the field last year. We should be able to match their production with our top 4 ends. I think DB will be a major improvement. We have corners that can play man and going strictly on the numbers, we’ll be playing a ton more man with Diaz calling the defense.
If we can just get two guys to play ILB with any consistency, it could easily be another top 25 defense.

Time to move on now from the dead weight we’ve been starting. That’s why you recruit talent, to have the best player regardless of age win out. We’ve got to stop it with Ivey, Carter, Jennings, McCloud, Gaynor, etc. play the best **** player at each position and watch this team turn the corner quickly to dominate performances. It’s time Manny; time to unleash the beasts.
