Let’s stop with Miami doesn’t have money..

You aren't getting them to come for only $1M more in salary and the tax benefit (8% in Iowa and 5% in Ohio) is more than offset by the reduced cost of housing alone. Not happening.
You have convinced me. The Canes can't do anything. This is their lot in life. Miami should quit playing football or move down to FCS.

How much does ACC football make?
The ACC reported $497 million in revenue for the fiscal year 2020 and that was an average of right around $33 million per school with the lowest being $30.9 million and the highest being $37 million to Clemson.Aug 5, 2021.

The 2019 - 2020 each ACC school made over $40MM..

There’s plenty of money to hire a competent staff. UM chooses not to…

UM lost Butch Davis over his contract - trying to nickel and dime him until he was locked in for another season at his going rate of pay.

UM's management is more about wasting large amounts of money on other dumbass endeavors - than putting money in a money-maker.

We've had the worst string of supposed Head Coaches in history.

Who in turn can't see the wisdom in hiring top Coordinators.

Our Coordinators - say on Offense - is more frightened over losing a game - than with WINNING a game.

Is that what I said champ? Don't think I recall saying any of that. What I did say is we can't/won't pay for elite coaches.

There’s money. And then, there’s real money. Like having your first time starting QB with 800k+ in the bank. Miami will never win an arms race with the likes of Bama, OsU, Okie, Clemson, UGA,. It wont happen. I get your point about having money to go get competent people. The problem is, the people doing the hiring think the staff is competent. What former NFL head coaches are coming to Miami to work as coordinators under Manny?
NIL changed the game for the SEC .....it's money season and this has helped them even more. We haven't survived the internet era and now the NIL era we are left behind

Directing money to players….that’s the only thing that matters. The coaches that know how to do that tend to cost more because they are the successful ones. Think Texas AM started spending more? No, they hired a guy that knows how to get money to recruits, and they gave him the resources.

People there ls more than enough money at and around the university to spend as much or more than the Bamas and OSUs of the world. Those schools care about winning. Our leadership doesn’t. There’s hundreds of millions of dollars flowing through Miami. It’s just that the powers that be don’t want to spend the necessary money to make the football program a powerhouse on a yearly basis.
Correct , Luginbill and Salee said this today on CFB Sunday when a caller asked them about parity in CFB...They basically said... Bama, ToSu, Clemson, Oklahoma understand that Football is what drives them and they put all the $$$$$$$$$$ into that for good reason.

Other schools could do so as well, but choose not to.

Let's be honest, if not for Football , who da fuq would ever care about some shytehole in Tuscaloosa?

Michigan and Texas have more money than god and they still suck. Money is not an issue. Sick of hearing about money. It's who you hire and how good they are.
Just because exceptions to a rule exist, doesn't make the rule less applicable. Michigan and Texas are wasting money, because they are spending it poorly. That said, they are also able to go out and spend to correct their mistakes easier than a school like Miami. Texas makes a **** poor hire, they can eventually overspend for the best coach on the market. That's what Alabama did with Saban. Miami makes a bad hire, it cripples the program for years, because Miami can't afford to just go out and overspend for the closest thing to a sure thing.

In order to overcome that systematic disadvantage, Miami MUST have an AD that is forward thinking, that understands how to find value in undervalued coaches. Sam Jankovich was great at using his connections to find guys like Jimmy and Erickson, guys that weren't the hottest names in the profession, but were legitimate coaches. If Blake James were forward thinking, Bill Clark, Willie Fritz, or dare I say Matt Campbell would be the coach at Miami right now, not Manny Diaz. Manny Diaz is the hire an incompetent, staid AD makes because he lacks the ability to think outside the box, nor identify coaching talent. Then again James was seriously considering Butch Davis when Golden was fired, so I'm not shocked. He makes moves to get heat off of him, not to put the program in the best position to win.

Honestly, I don't even blame Blake at this point, he is only doing what he is allowed to do. The athletically inclined members of the BOT have failed miserably, because they should have held James accountable the MOMENT he came into the room and even suggested Diaz, without calling a single qualified candidate. Marcus Lemonis and those guys should have basically laughed him out the room, before asking for Blake's letter of resignation.
