Chicken or the egg with Richt.

He'd have been fine had he just hired a competent OC, however he wouldn't have come here unless he got the chance to call plays.
He needed an OC but lets not forget he made banda and patke co-DCs when manure left. Imagine what we'd look like with jorn coaching qb's with richt calling plays and panda and patty-kake calling the defense.

Hindsight 20/20 if richt stayed and hired a good OC who also coached QB's and manny left and took panda and patke with him and richt hires a good DC, addition by subtraction. But no, we could never be that lucky

I meant from the beginning. Agree with what you said, though.

Richt was obviously are best coach in a long time...God **** it i just wish he would have replaced his son.

Richt's 10 win season was a mirage. It was probably the worst "10 win team" I have ever seen. They got the lucky breaks we aren't getting this year. If not for miracle catches against bad team that is an 8 win team. Al Golden's 9 win team (with Duke Johnson pre-injury) would have beaten that 10 win team by 2 TDs. Richt's pedigree was good to give an image of stability, but truth is he was no better than Golden. We hired a coach fired for failing at a school with infinite resources. Not exactly a coup. Tom Herman was available at the time of Richts hire but I'm pretty sure the interview list was Chudzinski, Davis, Cristobal, Schiano, Richt. You might notice a trend there.

No it def wasn't...Were we a "phony" top 5 team in '17? Yes of course we were, I agree with you there...But we were a clear top 15-18 team, and metrics point all of that out. We were as unlucky in '18 as we were lucky the year before in '17.

And Golden's 9 win team, was comparable to Richt's 10 win team (2017) for sure...I have no problem you saying that. But definitely not better, and definitely not more well coached. Richt did an excellent job of riding some of that luck and winning 4th quarters and close games, Golden did not. That 2 touchdown BS you are preaching is pure nonsense, dead wrong, you are off there...and losing Richards/Walton/Herndon for the last 3 is every bit as important as losing Johnson and some WR injuries late that season as well.

He was better than Golden, although I like Golden's vision and think he could have been successful here if he scrapped D'Nofrio and hired better assistants after some of his better ones were plucked. Loyalty to a system and assistant coaches were both of their downfalls.

Overall Golden left in comparable shape to what Richt left Diaz...And both left the talent level in way way way better shape than What shannon left Golden, especially when you factor in a large part of what Shannon did leave Golden were seniors and many ended up being suspended between 2 and 6 games (Vernon and Armstrong for instance)

It was a bad 10-3 season. But it definitely wasn’t worse than Golden’s 9-4 team. (Even pre-Duke Johnson injury.)

Golden’s 9-4 team is probably the worst 9-4 team ever to play in a Power conference.

Anyway, I do agree that people overrate Richt’s tenure here because of a fluky 10-0 start and Orange Bowl bid and his generally solid tenure at UGA.

In hindsight, maybe we shoulda let the midget troll just hire Barry Alvarez.

They’d have made bad hires after Alvarez. It barely would have affected anything long term.

I’ve never seen much to suggest Alvarez was interested in taking the Miami job anyway. It was shortly before signing day and he had no connections with Miami. He probably knew he would retire soon and just wanted to finish his career at Wisconsin.

Man with the news of his heart attack we really need to look at him differently. Man wore down right before our eyes. He gave it his all. He left the program better off than when he found it. Hit nothing bad to say about Richt.

Golden! Give me a break! Mr. Golden Showers was a CHARLATAN from the get go. ****, he graduated from Penn. St. So that alone tells ME what I need to know about him. FWIW... I doubt he ever put his heart and was About This U! But that's just my odd way of seeing Hurricane matters and all that.

thats like saying a date with a skinny chick with buck teeth is better than going out with a 300 pound beast that smells like a fresh fart.

I'll take the skinny chick with buck teeth anyday. As long as we aren't talking gaytor teeth, or lack of.
