Top 10 Places Les Miles Could Coach Next Year | Daily Chicago Sports Tab
5. Western Michigan - a couple key factors here. First, Illinois is more likely to land current Western Michigan head coach PJ Fleck than they are Miles. Secondly, if Miles desires a low-key move after a tumultuous departure (see Bo Pelini post-Nebraska), the Michigan native might go "home" to coach in Kalamazoo.
mizzou4. Missouri - this would be a fascinating hire. Missouri sits well outside the SEC footprint but, in theory, competes with the powerhouse programs of the conference. Miles to Mizzou might not only have potential for a catchy hashtag campaign, but marrying his history in the Big 12 with the SEC might make sense.
VaT3. Virginia Tech - Frank Beamer built VaTech into what they are today, but is leaving after 29 years on the job. The Hokies are likely looking for a long-term fit, which might make them more likely to look for a lesser-known commodity. No question this is a tremendous job, however, and Miles would have to be intrigued if called.
USC2. USC - the Trojans have struck out on every hire they've made since Pete Carroll left for Seattle. While Miles being unemployed might hurt the optics of this potential hire, USC could do a lot worse - they have a couple times recently. Also, Miles' ability to get players to the next level would undoubtedly be a huge plus for the program.
The U1. University of Miami - the Mad Hatter to The U? He would certainly bring a level of swagger back to the program that has been missing in recent years, and his track record recruiting and developing NFL players will undoubtedly be viewed well by Canes boosters.
