Legends Broadcast: Gino Toretta & Shannon Dawson

Really cool convo. I found it interesting that Gino mentioned Mumme visited practices when he was at Kentucky. I think I remember @SWFLHurricane mention that Saban used to visit Butch’s practices. Honestly didn’t know it appears to be a common approach across the coaching community.

Saban visited GreenTree multiple times while he was at MSU.

Dawson has to look at this opportunity and feel likes hes playing with house money. ****, just score 30-35ppg and we might **** near give him a raise after year one! He comes from a coaching tree that scores in that ppg bracket when they arent even trying hard. This should be easy for him if Mario doesnt try to micro-manage him.

Saban still goes to watch Chip Kelly's practice on an annual basis. He's done it every year since 2010. Even went and visited him at his NFL stops.

I saw Kirby Smart and Mike Bobo at Wake Forest watching Clawson and Ruggiero to learn about RPO and slow mesh spring of 2022.

I know Mario went to observe the Saints and Rams last year. No idea about this year.

Two relaxed guys who know their ****............Gino if you watched closely gave some good insight into the QB mind and decision makeup, and Dawson gave his pedigree to reach where he is for our Canes.

Maybe Gino laid it on a thick, but Gino knows so much about College Football, I still like to hear and see what he thinks on our Canes.....

Belichick thinks very highly of chip Kelly too. He’s had chip at foxboro many times over the years. Not sure if he’s visited chip but Saban and bill definitely think highly of him

Mumme was probably at Valdosta St. when he visited. He wasnt at Kentucky until the late 90's.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed this. I’ve always liked Gino. He was the QB of the first Hurricane teams I can remember watching as a kid. I’ve had the pleasure of bumping into him a few times and he’s been super gracious with his time to chat Hurricane football.

I don’t want to criticize Gattis because he isn’t here any longer, but when you hear Dawson speak, you can see he’s had a lot of different experiences and has been able to see some of the changes in football throughout his coaching history. He’s also been exposed to a lot of different coaches and philosophies. That’s the plus with guys that have been around. Never got that sense with Gattis.

Gattis' practices are a must see for college and NFL corches.

D'No as well.

Standing room only.
