LB Biles from Pitt enters portal

I hope they straighten out this calendar cause I think if we were able to put all our efforts into Getting guys like him instead of having to gameplan, practice, and all the other preparation that goes into game week we’d have a much better chance of convincing guys like him who we could really use to come here….jmo

Not sure there are any enforceable punishments.
I'm not either. I know some Big10 & SEC schools refused to sign the original agreement with the CSC that would have given them the power of enforcing post season bans, but I haven't seen anything about how or whether that got resolved. CSC did release statement last week about enforcing financial penalties on teams who are over the cap though.

Is it $20.5M in just rev share from the school or in general? An oil guy writing “NIL” deals for athletes isn’t the same. Or I at least wouldn’t think it is.
This is accurate. The revenue sharing is the amount the universities can provide directly to athletes.
That is and will always be separate from true NIL. The Supreme Court will overturn any law that prohibits or limits a person’s ability to make money from his/her name, image or likeness.

It's $20.5m/yr RevShare Cap for payments from the school to the players. Escalates 4% each year. The third party NIL deals are uncapped but the way it is supposed to work is those deals have to be approved by NIL Go I believe its called and serve legit purposes or some such nonsense.

After the House settlement, there is a $20.5 mil cap on revenue share for ALL sports and there is a clearinghouse to ensure NIL deals are at market value.

My understanding is that you have to be able to prove NIL value. I.E. doing one commercial for said boosters business isn't equivalent to a 5m NIL deal. Not sure how they determine worth though.

So it’s basically a nothing rule then. This would make me believe there’s really no way to institute a cap on earnings for players.

Pro leagues obviously have their cap, but that’s money from the team(school), but they can obviously sign their own endorsements(NIL). So the cap people are just ****ing in the wind, at least seems that way.

Mine as well, and that's what the Clearinghouse is supposed to be in charge of arbitrating. Have read that what schools have been doing is signing players to giant RevShare deals with the expectation that portions of that contract will be offset by future cleared 3rd party NIL deals, under the impression that the offset $ amount wouldn't count against the RevShare Cap, but CSC released guidance saying they don't agree.

That’s s tricky thing. Like I think about Justin Jefferson being in Lowe’s commercials. How much may you really think he’s making them? But you also cannot prove he hasn’t made them any money. I just don’t see a way to define it.

UT just offloaded maybe 15 million in transfers. That 40 million doesnt sound that realistic at the moment. But it probably will next year. lol

As this playoff has shown, the show ponies (skill position players) are nice but if you don’t have the big nasties on the lines it won’t matter, unless arch can turn invisible that Texas O line isn’t keeping him upright.
