Latest Barry Jackson Miami Herald article about Richt

“It will start to happen over the next week and a half,” James said on that radio interview. “We go into a dead period after Sunday Dec. 16, and the coaches are around more. Once he gets back in the office and we can sit and talk, that’s what we’ll do. What that means I don’t know. But I do know Mark is competitive. Mark is not OK with being 7-5. He is going to make the changes that are needed for us to operate on the highest level possible.”

So has Richt told James that he plans to make significant changes or minor changes or any changes at all?

James told me that Richt has not conveyed that answer at this point.

“He has not given me any indication,” James said via text message, “and has not specifically addressed any type of change other than recognizing we need to operate at a higher level.”

Translation - No one is doing their job and this program is FVCKED.

There's still a possibility something will happen, but I'm already baking in not renewing my season tickets, not going to games next year, and watching on TV only for laughs and self-flagellation. Seriously depressing.

Merry Christmas, fam.

Um, no **** Sherlock. This is why Richt is paid the big bucks, so 7-5 in the ACC Coastal isn't good enough, who knew.

what I got from the article that Mork is stringing Flake along until all the good OC's are hired or off the market so Mork can tell him there's no one he feels will be an improvement so he will just stick to his 4 play offensive and continue calling plays....

Cager had a brain fart where he thought about going pro until he realized he had about as much chance of getting drafted as my 7 yr old granddaughter and Pope changed his mind about leaving cause he didn't want to sit out a year.

that's about it.

Am I just beginning to figure out your schtick, or do you really believe that? If the former, my hats off to you, man. You've absolutely had me going for months.

Please tell me you are really a Face who has just been enjoying the crap out of playing Heel since the UVA debacle, that would be hilarious.

He has only become a troll recently because every serious preseason prediction he made turned out to be completely wrong. Make no mistake about it, he's as retarded as they come.

This line right here is all we need to know how spineless Blake is. YOU'RE HIS BOSS, DUMBASS. You conference call him, call him in to the office and you hash this chit out, now! What the fck do you mean 'you don't know what that means when you talk to him???'

The only way we become great again is first by getting a savage AD. Anything or anyone associated w/ Shalala needs to bounce, but ****, at least Shalala had Miami in the top 50 in Academics, now we've slipped to 55th under Frenk's watch. FML man. **** this chit is frustrating af!

Dear Barry,

You might as well have written an article about jock itch as about Mark Richt. Guys who suffer with both will agree that
Richt is just as annoying and painful and for **** sure equally hard to get rid of.

Sincerely,
A Canes fan who is tired as **** of scratching and watching Miami lose to Dook

Ding ding ding!

Firing Richt means **** at this point because the AD and the board are basically going to have a circle jerk and fck up another coaching hire. Get an AD who knows how to evaluate a quality HC and go from there. Blake's only good for getting donations and shaking hands. When you have a top notch football program, the former gets easier, regardless of the AD's personality.

Church!

It amazes me how ppl continue to defend Blake b/c of some buildings going up. Go back to the 80's and go see how every kid in America were vying for admissions in to the University of Miami b/c the football team was hot. Go look at how buildings were beginning to pop up. Ppl support winners. Like I've stated, Blake should be an assistant AD, but nothing more than that. He doesn't have the fortitude to actually run the program. He allows ppl to run him.

in today's world we have too many people who are in decision-making positions who have a warped view and a dislike for
the concept of "winning" and who believe that everyone should get a trophy.

the pussified Miami admin is obviously not committed to having a championship football program. ray charles could see that.

To add onto what you're saying, UM's academics built up in large part due to the success of the program. UM winning in the 80's provided them money to invest back into the school. It seems our current administration has forgotten this business model. It's certainly possible to have BOTH a winning football program while also being a top 50 academic institution. You don't have to sacrifice one for the benefit of the other.

Preach man. Too many examples that support this statement. Just off the top of the head, UGA, Duke (basketball), Stanford, USC, Michigan.

The lack of urgency just doesn’t exist with our quarterbacks during 2-minute offense or Mark Richt — it extends to James.

Every other top-tier program in the country is making moves; meanwhile, James is taking his sweet time.

The excuse offered was crappy. At the end of the day it’s clear that Blake doesn’t care at all.

The whole **** operation is a joke, and it’s top-down in nature.

and to add even more, and yall correct me if i/m wrong but i dont think so. In the 80's, at some point, we were the #1 selling sport gear in the world, thats right, caps, shirts, whatever, even here in Texas there were people everywhere sportin Canes gear. You saw it on tv, in movies, MTV vids, even overseas they were rockin The U, the school was making millions off of it, and why were people doing that, because they saw us kickin the **** outta Notre Lame, Michigan, Texas, Bama, on tv and they loved the swag. Man I played at a big D1 here in Texas and i can tell you after our game we would tune in and watch those Canes on tv, we ALL wanted to play like that, and luckily I had an in with Jimmy. It has been my opinion for awhile now the current admin does NOT want the "other" stuff that comes with that, despite how much money it brings

But the fact that these guys were looking for the exit means "Houston We Got A Problem!!"

I just don't understand how someone like James can have a position of immense power and authority, yet still let an employee he manages dictate the terms of an annual evaluation. This baffles me. I wonder how this would fly in other businesses or at other universities. He is giving all the power to an inferior employee when his position is mostly dependent upon that power. Fu.ck that article was depressing.
I don’t think we’re sure how much power James actually has, but either way, maybe richt isn’t dictating anything. It could be that James just DGAF about the meeting, so hasn’t pushed it.

Best news in that article is Orlafsky is calling the bowl game, Such is the state of UM football these days.
