My dad lost his battle with dementia on November 17, 2025. I was taking care of him as an only child since 2021. He was diagnosed with dementia in 2019 then diagnosed with cancer in 2021. Absolute nightmare. Still suffering from it all. He had $450k in his IRA in 2021. I was paying on average $6k a month from April 2021 to November 17th. He left me $6k. If he was still with us, he would have wanted me to go to the natty. He started taking me to games in the 90s. I was there for 03 comeback against the gators. Wide left. (That mcgahee screen down the sideline is forever etched into my memory. Then remember covering my eyes before the wide left until I heard the crowd roar. I’m tearing up just thinking about all those memories.) We went to so many iconic Canes games I just wish I could go to just one more game with him. Our last game together was when we beat FSU 52-10. He also became really close with the Berry family. We would hangout with their entire family when Damien Jr was here as a cane. Damien Berry skipped the A&M game to come to my dad’s funeral. Then we went and watched the game. Just a beautiful way to remember my dad. I’m truly blessed for the Berry family to do that and my dad to take me to so many awesome games. Just felt like sharing. It’s good to be back on here. I wish he could’ve seen this new Miami team.

He snuck into the 83 natty. Another game him and his best friend were with some strippers and convinced the guys in the ambulance to let them hop in the back and they drove them into the game and all got out. Wild times.
 
Thank you for sharing and sorry for your loss. Like you, my dad introduced me to Canes football when I was a kid in the 90s. My best memories are watching games with him in the OB.

Man. Sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this. In a time and place where people (including me) can lose sight of the most important things, your message serves as a loud reminder of what is most important. Cherish those memories with your dad.
 
So sorry for your loss but you’ll always have those memories to hold on to. This place can be somewhat of an escape for you to remember the past and celebrate the future - and the future is looking pretty **** good.
 
Bless you and your family, and thank you for the reminder to treasure all the moments--even the ups and downs. We get one lap on this course--I'm so glad you and your dad got to share that ride.
