Last resort Transfer Qb

Shane Buechele could be a nice fall back option if we cant sign a Qb in the 2019 class. He isnt the most Mobil or athletic Qb but the kid can carve up a defense when protected. Watched a lot of his freshman year with Charlie Strong. Again last resort. Manny wants more competition.

Any other suggestions?

What if I told you he’s better at playing QB than Jalen Hurts and everybody is falling for Jalen because of his inflated completion percentage and his win record while he was at Bama...?

I'd tend to agree but we should be after both and Rhys Plumlee. Theoretically, Applewhite would/should be able to land at least one of them.

I respect Jalen Hurts for all he has achieved, but I personally don't think he is going to step onto another program and dominate.

Oh as a pure passer no doubt...But Hurts flashed better than we've ever seen from him in that Georgia rally, made big time throws...So even if only SLIGHT improvement, when you factor in AT THE LEAST 400 yards rushing at over 4.0 ypr...Hurts can work too.

Except in our O he would need to throw...a lot of those yards cane from breaks in discipline on the D-line not O-line ineptitude. There’s a big difference in scrambling for chunk yards and scrambling just to some yards/to the line of scrimmage.
 
Buechele wouldn't be a bad grad transfer option if/when he hits the portal. He's better than anything we have on the roster currently. He also has two years of eligibility left.
 
He ain't going to be a last resort option he will be the guy we get I would bet especially if Applewhite is the man. I mean I would love Hurts but I bet he goes to a school that could win a title next season that needs a QB. Miami is not that. 10 wins ? Sure but we ain't going to the playoffs next year .

Hes not going to improve behind our Oline. Nearly 50% of his completed passes were behind the line of scrimmage...he can throw past 10 yds.

He may have improved already. And also our o-line may/should improve
 
2 guysbwith very different skill sets fellas. Let’s wait to see who the OC is before these debates. If it’s Applewhite as suspected, I’ll take Hurts all day in that offense over Shane.
