Last game of the Manny Diaz error

How I will (seriously) remember Diaz time at Miami:

-52-10 FSU
-2-1 record vs FSU
-4th and 14
-13 sacks allowed in his first game as a HC
-Exposing Dan Enos
-800 rushing yards allowed
-Found a way to beat both divisional champs and still get fired in the same year. (Imagine if UF beat Bama and UGA this year but lost to Ole Miss and Missouri lol)
-Never getting his revenge game/victory against Mack Brown
-Had a high performing DE in ever year. Got fired the year he finally didn't.
-Only giving up 30 points a game despite playing a whole year with no linebackers and seemingly 9 guys on the field.
-Recruiting Linebackers so badly that it seemed like we had 9 guys on the field his final year.
-He left Temple faster than Cristobal left Miami (when Nick Saban called him up)
-Getting cucked by the ACC in 2020 by them letting in ND, and not putting them on our schedule, then also selecting ND to play over us when there was still games left on the schedule for both teams.
-Making every QB look like Tebow or Manning
-Terrible game management against FSU even after the 4th and 14
-Losing to the same FSU team that got beat by an FCS school
-A solid 3 game win streak of FSU, Pitt, and ranked Louisville, followed by an unfathomable losing streak to FIU, Duke, and LA Tech
-Turnover Chain

I was shocked when he was hired, knowing that we could've gone after some real dudes. Then, because I'm a life long Cane, I tried to roll with it. Even the FIU game, as confusing as it was, was eclipsed by it being his first season as HC.

Last year, before the UNC game, made me think that with some portal additions and changes on the D staff, Blake might just have lucked into a good decision. Then UNC happened....

After UNC, with all we had coming back, I made myself belief in the potential. T-Rob this, King that...

After the MSU game this year, and all of the horrible tackling, I pretty much made up my mind about him, but once 10 wins were off the table with the UVA loss (and the Beta playcalling at the end of that game with ruffly 2 minutes left, deep in their territory) I knew he wasn't long for this job, but after we lost to UNC, it was nearly 100% chance he was gone.

Then, because we love drama and are in a terrible conference, there was a possibility that if he won out, and certain things went our way, that we could win the Coastal. Then, with slightly improved tackling, the youth movement on D, and TVD turning into one of the best QB's in the country, there was a wafer-thin possibility that he could actually win the ACC.

If he had won not only the Coastal, but the ACC, then as much as it seemed obvious we needed to go with a better HC, you could make the logical argument that he should be given another year. Not saying that's what I wanted (please see the MSU game for me), but in that scenario, Manny coming back was a reasonable thing.

And then, Norvell did us a huge favor and eliminated us from the Coastal. It was what alcoholics may refer to as a sobering moment of clarity. It reminded us of who he was. The record setting games against our D. The inexplicable losses. The fact that he had superior talent in almost every game he coached here as the Cane's HC and had an average record with some historically bad performances mixed in there and no signature wins.

Good bye, Manny. You really should've gone to Temple and discovered whether or not you were actually HCing material. Blake ultimately did you a disservice. My guess is that he will be given an opportunity to be someone's DC somewhere, but he is probably done with HCing opportunities.

This is it for me. The most pvssy move in all of collegiate coaching I think I’ve ever seen. Some woe is me, pity me bullshyt. Horrible.

At least fail like a man.
I remember the sympathy thread poRsted with a couple people biting. Lol. I had to get @SWFLHurricane to get caneinorlando involved in that one.

Mannys legacy will be known for its good, its bad and its ugly.

Good….portal use,recruiting

Bad….not playing the better players until it was too late and those stupid TD Rings

Ugly…plain and simple…his coaching….overall but especially his defense.

Here’s to Manny having a perfect game today finally, so he can have something on his resume for the next job.

At least this mess was like Richt, only three years. Just for perspective we actually kept Golden around for 5. I couldn’t imagine another two years of this.

I’m excited to move on from this defense for the first time in what feels like forever though.

We’ve had either this garbage or Al Goldens defense the last 11 years…

This 6 year tenure has really put Manny out of business. His gimmick has been completed figured out.
