Just finished the first 1/2 of the 1991 Houston game in the article. Not one I often watch. People were bigtime sweating Klingler after throwing 700+ yards the week before. Awesome defense. Toretta out Klinglers Klingler.
I remember the hype before the game. True to our old days form. We took it to them...

I remember a bunch of preppies with Houston shirts walking around South Beach talkin mad ****. That was back when I knew without a doubt we would win. Didn’t work out so well for them.

What’s the difference between the run and shoot, which I know is Mouse Davis, and the Air Raid offense?

Possibly the name. But I'll defer to the experts...

no expert but air raid uses more hurry up, and run and shoot motions receivers presnap

air raid also uses OL wide splits. Not sure about run & shoot.

- per Wikipedia

they seem pretty similar to a no expert like myself

We will wallow in our ignorance. But hey, Thank God for the internet. Now I'm so intrigued im going to find the comparison between air raid and air Coryell philosophy...

Was there for that OB massacre... that and the ND return game, the year after the fumble in South Bend, were the loudest games i have ever been to.

These days, it's probably whether an air raid (hurricane) siren plays after a touchdown. Dennis Erickson was one of the first "spread" offense innovators with his one back, sideline-to-sideline sets especially in the red zone. All of the basic variations seem to depend on the way the offense reads, then out numbers (quarterback options) or out leverages (double team blocks, etc.) the defense. Due to their performances in the NFL, Ware and Klingler probably set spread-style quarterbacks back in the pros for a decade because they were seen as "systems" quarterbacks. Not anymore. Couldn't be more excited about this next season . . .
