Larry Scott to Tennesee

"With Larry Scott going to Tennessee, I expect him to make a push for Tyler Byrd.
Byrd really respects Scott and his teammate at Naples High, Carlin Fils-Aime, is committed to Tennessee."

From ITU David Lake

My gut tells me Byrd isn't going anywhere...Tennessee is in just a big a mess as we were, Butch Jones isn't someone I would of jumped to work for over Richt. He has one more bad season and he may be looking for a job this time next year just like Golden.

Tennessee will finish the year ranked in the top 20. How is that a "big mess"?

and they thumped the "mighty Big 10" Northwestern in their bowl game. Tennessee looks groomed for the next step in the SEC. Butch Jones can coach.

I'm glad he's found a good job. He deserves it. I'm also glad that he's gone from here. Nothing personal at all, but keeping him around could cause a bit of division. Remember, he was the head coach for half the season and these kids will feel loyalty to him. All security blankets have been burned, and I'm really glad.

****, he was the best coach on Goldens whole staff.

Why do people say this?

Because the players he was coaching for the most part fulfilled their potential. Pretty good indicator of a good coach.

He has an absolute beast of a TE and we totally under utilized him.

He wasn´t the OC.

We just lost all of our TE commits.

Because we fired the HC they commited to.

We played like total shiat as far as penalties go for the rest of the year.

I´ll give you this one. He didn´t get us to improve here. But we were also victimzed by the refs. This will continue under Richt.

He agreed with that halfback pass in a FN blizzard.

He wasn´t prepared to throw his OC under the bus. I call that leadership and always expect my HC to have his players/subordinates back in public.

My only reason for keeping him was for local high school ties.

Scott was a the West Florida guy and his HS ties were in Tampa, not local.

I don't think he was overrated as a TE coach. He was a good TE coach, look at the development Walford made, Herndon and Njoku were coming on this season.

Not trying to discredit him but all 3 of those are super talented kids with great frames/athletic skill.

I wouldn't have minded him as TE coach but good for him getting paid. Win win for both schools IMO.

Super talented yes, but Njoku and Warlord were RAW as fvck. He did a real good job of coaching up the TEs. They were probably the only position on the team you could make this claim for.

Bottom line is I would much rather have the WHOLE staff gone than retain too many of them. Even if it means letting a good one go. Best way to remove the Golden stench.

I loved Scott and he did a great job as our interim head coach.

Scott had a leadership role and if he was some sort of associate head coach etc, you would start to have hat power struggle you hear about. Fresh start and giving CMR full control is the right move.

Not mad if he had stayed; not mad that he's gone. Larry did us a solid in spite of all our structural issues. Wish him well.

Can't wait to see all the overly-emotional CIS posters ***** about whoever Richt hires as our TE coach.

OMG he didn't coach hall of fame TEs in the NFL! WTF is Richt doing?

Bruce Arians for TE coach or Richt's a POS.

Good.

The Çanes were so under prepared for the UNC game that I thought golden was still in charge.

no big loss

Liked Scott as a coach but good move by Richt, this allows the players to focus and start new relationships with new staff members easier
