Lane is a savage

Ole Miss ain't s3xy* enough for Lane, and it never was, so please don't suggest there is a genuine bone in the man's body. He just did a TV special on how he's a changed man and he owes it all to Oxford FFS.

He was a rehab project after USC, and his path suggests that. It was never ending at Ole Miss. He may have offered to coach through the playoffs, but that was optics. He's moved on to LSU, that's what he will be spending 75% of his time on, no matter what he says.

There is genuinely no good that comes from letting him hang around, and that's why at most jobs, when you announce you're going to a direct competitor, you're gone. Regardless of what happens these next few games, you're back to square one anyway.

PS- Filtering out the word "s3xy" is soft! "There are no bad words, just soft people" -Mario, probably

Here goes: This is a huge nothing story - only reason it has traction is due to CFP implications and Lane Kiffins name.

Only thing I’d say is he should’ve handled it about a week ago. The LSU and UF jobs opened up about a month ago, so be a man, make your decision, and move forward.

Knowing that Ole Miss had a great chance at the playoff, he should’ve left the weekend prior to the Egg Bowl AND not asked to continue coaching the team for the CFP. This way if he’s asking HIS assistants that HE hired to come with him to LSU, it’s no harm no foul.

LSU has a higher ceiling in a lot of ways and can probably draw better assistants anyway. It’s not a forgone conclusion he’d want to just transfer the entire staff over. He’ll be just fine. Ole Miss is going to be back to 10 wins 4 times every 50 years like their pre-Lane self.
Maybe. But it also might be the spark that turns them around. There's never been a better time in the SEC to reach the top tier.

What did Lane say here (or throughout the process) that was wrong?

There are no victims here, certainly not Lane. We don’t know how it all went down on either side, and like you said breakups are messy.
He didn't technically say anything wrong in public per say, but the action of having his representatives ALLEGEDLY "checking out" the scenery of the competing towns, while he was working at OM, and not giving the AD a solid answer about his future plans. He knew he was gone and kept the AD in limbo for much longer than he should have. He could have told the man right after the egg bowl. which was when he promised to give an answer. Then after he finally tells the AD of his plans, knowing what obstacles are in place for the school that he's leaving (Upcoming CFP), he guts the entire offensive staff, by saying, "If you're planning on going with me to LSU, the plane is leaving soon. Be on it, or there won't be a spot for you on my LSU staff." or something of that nature. He did this outta spite, all because the AD wouldn't let him talk to the team at that point. "Lane, If you're out, you're out". The optics of the episode is what I have issues with. Bruh don took the whole offensive staff with him to Baton Rouge, :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: It's just like when Deion landed at CU and basically told the whole team, to "Pack yo bags, and get to steppin'!!!" without even letting the returning kids workout for them. He was replacing them all! I'm pretty sure not every kid on that roster was terrible. You are right about there not being any innocent parties here, and If I come off sounding like an Ole **** sympathizer, that is certainly not my aim. I just felt like the **** could have been handled more adult like..

Probably had a contract clause losing money if he didn't finish the regular season

Whenever a successful coach leaves on his own accord to go coach another team it gets a little messy. Ol Miss should be grateful Kiffin gave that backwater dump more success than they ever had before. They had to know that when a better opportunity came and Kiffin had already ****ed every hoe on that campus, he was gonna leave.
Dang sun, Oxford iz a throbbin metropolist compared to Nahunta, Blacksheer, heII . . . even Waycross. Lane trane shoodn’t a left them boys. He could theronrhetorically play fer a natty at Ole Miss. iffin he don’t play fer a natty at LSU, he gone!

Yes, actually. I rather be where we are now than have someone build something up to burn it down on the way out the door. His team is in the playoffs, and he just left. Lane gives zero ***** about any but himself. Not a fan of Mario when we hired him, but he has improved our program and won't do what Lane did when or if he ever goes.
Lane wanted to Coach Old' Miss. The AD said no!!! Also, we had a Coach to leave. Remember Butch left us for the NFL

Why would they let him finish the season when he is going to their rivals?
WHY NOT!?

Kiffin wants to win and be known as winning- the ENTIRE reason he wanted to stay was to coach in the playoffs.

so Ole Miss has a better chance to win with him on the sidelines. what difference does it make?

it's not like he is going to steal all your top secret defense weapons on the way out the door

are you like 30 years old?!

Howard Schnellenberger left Miami AFTER WINNING A NATIONAL TITLE in the late spring of 1984!

Jimmy Johnson left after the 1988 season.

Erickson left on his own accord as well.

and yes Butch Davis left for the Cleveland Browns after telling everyone he was staying.

It would be kind of hilarious if he goes to the Vegas Raiders. It would be a Raider-esque thing to do.

Hire a retread Jon Gruden

Hire a retread Lane Kiffin
Which NFL team does Lane leave for in four years?

Three years. That's how long LSU will tolerate him for. He's not going to win a chip there. Honestly, the whole, "Well I took a job at your rival, but let me coach in the playoff pretty please" is absurd just on the face of it.

If Mario took us to the playoffs and took a job at FSU and said the same thing, what do you think the BOT would do? The EXACT same thing. I'll roll over and let you **** in our mouths while you're at it, Mario.

It was a very weak attempt at 'being the bigger man', obviously a ludicrous premise based in bad faith. And while I love you @RVACane , your situation is different. Bobby Petrino most certainly had the right to take a job with Arkansas. Nick Saban had every right to take the job at Alabama. But there's a way to do things, and do things properly. For example, I can't just abandon the truck wherever I please because I have a job opening that pays more. First, its unprofessional as ****, second, it goes against my license as "Vehicle Abandonment".

I think Lane played too much into the "Will he or won't he", absorbed the hype, left Ole Miss clueless, and considering they essentially gave him good money and unbridled control over the program, they deserved a little more respect from Kiffin on the way out.

Absolute C U N T and hes got massive expectations now.

I doubt he lives up to them.

Why not sign some legal **** with both Ole Miss and LSU telling them both that you are going to take the LSU job after the season is over? Give Ole Miss a chance to search for a new coach, and lets LSU stop looking.

With Lane gutting the staff, there's actually an argument to be made that Ole Miss shouldn't even be in the playoffs - as they'd be a shell of their team without their HC.

Of course to a normal person that would sound bat**** insane, but the committee opened this door by leaving an undefeated FSU out just because they lost their QB.

I don’t know about what legal **** they could sign man but I probably wouldn’t tell my current employer I am looking at another job. Maybe it’s different with this field.
