Lane is a savage

Isn't there a buyout agreement that allows him to leave?
None of this really is Lane's or Ole Miss fault. The timing of the portal and early HS signing day causes everyone to act quickly and not be able to wait for the season to end. Those things should be pushed back until after their precious playoff so that they avoid all this mess.
I agree the college football calendar is completely ****ed up.

Losing a HC and the entire staff is a big deal. Here’s the question- if you replaced Kiffin with a random guy in the frozen food aisle at the local Piggly Wiggly and he rounded out the staff with his drinking buddies, is Ole Miss still a playoff team?
This good Sir, is a Winner, Winner, Chicken dinner post. And.. gets you a free chicken biscuit at Maime’s Diner in Covington, Ga. Enjoy.

Show me that source, please.
They literally did not have an AD search so they could run out and hire Kiffen. Even after they promoted Ausberry they backtracked because it was such a knee-jerk reaction so they could go for Lane. Then they re-promoted him. They weren’t going to find an AD in a week. The Governor said it as well. That’s just common sense

If I was an ole miss fan I would be ****ed. Not only are you leaving, you have a new landing spot secured while taking our staff, while at the same time now ole miss is way behind the 8-ball for a new coaching search.
The majority of those coaches don’t give a sh*t about Ole Miss, lol. They came there to work for Kiffen and he knows that which is more than likely why he feels no way about poaching them.

“If it wasn’t for me they wouldn’t have come to this **** hole in the first place”… kind of thing.

Think Mario going to Tuscaloosa… he went there to work for Saban he didn’t go there because he wanted to be at Bama. One just begets the other.

All I care about is how the CFP committee justifies its decision:

1) Ole Miss is in on the basis of their regular season. Whatever happens in the playoff (they will get demolished), happens, but they earned a berth; or
2) HC/playcaller and staff leaving, possible player opt outs. "This is no longer the same team, and therefore they're out."

Let's see, because this is the first test case. This situation is going to happen again.
This sport is ******* stupid now. With the early signing day, one transfer portal, the timing of the playoffs and ambiguity for selection, etc. it is completely set up for these sorts of issues going forward.

For the Kiffin Kucks, try this perspective.

A major corporation is having their best year ever. The key executive who is mostly responsible for this success is going to leave right before the most profitable 4th quarter of the year. And leave for a rival corporation. He offers to stay on through the remainder of the year, but still wants the ability to leave, along with a good number of other key personnel, taking them to the rival company.

Would you seriously expect the Board of Directors to agree?
I'd look to see what his employment contract allows him to do and whether him remaining through the end of the year brings any possible benefit to the company, ...not get all up in my feelings.

Nope! They did to the semenholes and that was only a quarterback issue. This is almost the whole staff.

Yes, and you right about everything imo. he broke the contract by demanding he stay and coach the team. It was in the contract that he can’t continue. That’s put in place so things like this don’t happen.

This is why I make zero predictions about what "college football" is even going to be by 2030. I can simultaneously say that we will likely have a national champion that is among the 2-3 best teams in the country, but that the format makes it a fraudulent competition.

The best way to sum it up is that it's the NFL with worse players and a more contrived format. But even that is a very vague description, and likely to mutate with rule changes, etc.

In understanding the amount of back channeling that goes on in sports across all levels I gots zero sympathy for Ole Miss. Teams “check the temperature” with other coaches all the time with the position currently occupied…with full intention of firing the present coach at the end of the season.

These schools can and will “hang on” to coaches when it serves them but God forbid someone wants to finish the job for the season. There ain’t no loyalty in CFB that’s why they get these high salaries, with great buyouts. No one needs to play the victim here.

100% spot on. This post will be glossed over because it's not extreme in any direction but it's really all that matters in this particular situation.

Lane is simultaneously a ***** & a savage. Ole Mids exacerbated the situation with their "ultimatum". He got paid, they got into contention. Exactly as you said: no one is a victim here.

Should’ve clarified. I meant he was trying to strip everything on the way out leaving ole miss with absolutely nothing (coaching wise) for a playoff run.

These coaches are more linked to each other than they are to these schools. That’s how and why they’ll ensure their continuous employment and the employment of the children and son in laws, lol.

But seriously…. They all know these schools will **** on them because the boosters run these schools more egregiously than in years past. No more “quiet suggestions” so loyalty is out the window.

Not saying they are the best of friends but did UF not think Napier spoke to Kiffin about the bull**** happening at UF? The same Napier who was the WR coach under Kiffin at Bama for a few years? That kind of stuff matters long term.
