Landon Tengwall: Miami's OL vs FSU

I've mentioned this more than once. One of the biggest issues I see in his plays has nothing to do with being undersized. Ironically, it's that he seems jumpy and overruns or oversteps on plays. Happened a good amount at Wake. He basically moved himself out of plays. As I've previously said, this is not new for this season. When he was in that FB role, he often had trouble finding someone to block. I'd love to know from the OL guys, @Ironmanfootball @gogeta4 @San Amaro Dr, if that's a common issue based on inexperience or if it's a feel/instinct thing. Congdon, on the other hand, seems way more composed.

(I know zippo about the state of mind of an OL)
I played center on my Palatka Eagles 8u team. I can answer this for you.

SJ sucks.

Its called being a spazz, I played with guys like this.. Check his locker he probably geeked up on 10 mali redbulls/addy before the games..

Great breakdown.

Shows that maybe our OL issues are not talent or size (SJ) but it’s actually experience/reps as a cohesive unit and communication together

If you think about it this way:

2026 OL
LT - Samson (first year starting at Tackle)
LG - Cogdon (true freshman, didn’t start until 2 weeks ago)
C - Rodriguez (first year starting)
RG - SJ (first year starter and first game at RG next to McCoy)
RT - McCoy (first year starting at Tackle)

As fans we’re expecting the same performance as what we saw with last years OL in the playoffs. But that’s with multiple year starters and a whole season together (and they started to hit their stride in games 12-15). Look at the comparison, especially when OL is a position that is all about maturity and experience:

2025 OL
LT - Bell (2 year starter at LT)
LG - Samson/McCoy (second year rotating starters)
C - Brockermeyer (All Big 12 before coming to Miami)
RG - Cooper (3-4 year starter)
RT - Cici (3 year starter)

Gives me hope that Mirabal will get it right and the unit we have now will only get better

We need to have an answer for those Ends taking out our Guards. Landon made a good point about the Tackles shocking the Ends to take them off track. TBH FSU did a really good job on their stunts. But we'll have to fix it because they created a blueprint for others to copy.
