Lamar Miller.

Dolphins have an actual O-line

Lamar actually has holes to run through

he will continue to put up big numbers this year

I had a huge argument with bomb and Larry when I said Lamar Miller would be a better pro back than Trent Richardson and Doug Martin.

Looked like a fool after their rookie years, but I feel good about it now. Miller is gifted.

I still don't think he's a natural RB. He's on my fantasy team because I thought he'd produce, but I think he's an excellent athlete with tremendous speed. He rarely gets any yards after contact and his vision is mediocre. However, in his current system, he is a fantastic fit.

/separately, I don't think Richardson has ever been a very good natural RB - atrocious vision.

there current stable of runners at Bama are the same thing...They hype those kids up and their for the most part, stiff, battering rams...running behind usually a top shelf oline.

Lamar is looking good this year....he has questionable vision....but he gears up pretty quick..and if he hits a hole he is a guaranteed 8yards in a hurry.

This is the type of scheme I think he fits..allows him to slash and get outside...as well as catch passes out of the backfield.

Lazor was that guy at UVA who light up Dorito?

I heard he runs Chip system, did he coach with Chip at any time?

Miller is an interesting guy. He's not a pure RB, but he's also never played anything else. All he does is run the ball.

He just has a weird running style. He's like a sprinter with slightly more fluidity in the hole. His game is finding a lane and exploding. I think that's why he struggles with balance so much-- his shoulders are always aiming at the finish line. Even if he's in the open field, he's still sprinting in a straight line (which keeps him from finishing long runs unlike slower guys like Gore).

This system is perfect for him.

I said the same thing and got ripped for it. Now people are looking at me like I had a crystal ball.

Well said DMoney... Bill Lazor has definitely helped him already. I like the fact they are using the read option look with him and Tannehill as well. The improvement on the offensive line is an understatement. People ripped on Lamar last year, but he really had no holes to run through and had to try to push it to the outside a lot.

frustrating that fins still refuse to feed him...can he get 20 carries ONCE.?

Miller is made of glass, in so far as he has a history of nagging injuries that keep him from being on the field as often as you'd like. Keeping his carries down is alright, because he's also contributing in the passing game, and the offense is actually looking respectable the last couple weeks. Lazor has done a fine job spreading the responsibility around to everybody and not forcing Tanneyhill to be Peyton or Brees, and Lamar has been a big part of that too.

I don't disagree with any of that. Problem is, again, he really doesn't get any (or hardly) yards after contact. It's difficult to be a good, consistent back for your team that way - in any system. He'll rack up yards, catches and hopefully fantasy points, but when it comes to breaking a tackle or shaking through an arm grab at the second level, he'll always disappoint. That'd be especially important in a focused playoff environment. He struggles with balance and you named the perfect model of balance: Gore.

He's on my team as well. So is Devin Hester. So is Allen Hurns. So is Travis Benjamin. So is Sean Spence. So is Storm Johnson.

My team ain't doin well but I don't care bout nothin but this U.

Said this before, the feet of a rb are the most important.
Miller sometimes hesitates in the hole, I lose my mind everytime I see it.
When I coach I tell my Rbs, especially in zone schemes, make one decision and stick with it, I don't care if it's right or wrong but plant that foot run downhill and go don't hesitate! After 5 yards then I don't give a **** what you do.

Daniel, you shouldn't bring up the past errors of others when it was you that was the leading the "Stephen Morris, heisman candidate, first round draft pick" train back in the day.

During the Chicago game, I was about to start a thread on this because I remembered this exact discussion regarding Lamar Miller versus Trent Richardson on the other board a few years ago.

Admittedly, I was on the Trent Richardson side and I didn't even think it was close. He reminded me of AP when he was at Oklahoma with how hard he ran. Literally just trouncing guys on the field making it look like a man versus boys--and this was in the SEC.

Conversely, I always found Lamar Miller to be frustrating to watch because it seemed like he goes down at the slightest bit of contact. I went to Killian, so I always had a soft spot in my heart for Miller, but I could not stand the fact that he would go down if anyone touched his shoelace.

Fast forward a few years, and it looks like Miller is going to have a better professional career than Richardson. For whatever reason, and I watch a lot of Colts games, Richardson just doesn't seem to have it going--and I don't understand why, particularly because Bradshaw is killing it there. (I thought Richardson was far better in college than Lacy, and even Lacy is having success at Green Bay.)

With that said, I don't think Miller is elite. He's a serviceable rb--who is only starting because Moreno went down. He's having a good season, no doubt. But a lot of his success has been the result of the right scheme/balanced play calling and surprisingly an offensive line that is creating Red Sea like openings.

This discussion always fascinated me, and reminds me of the Ricky Williams versus Edgerrin James debate when the colts took James over Williams.
