Lack of coaching changes on D side/ST

The fact Manny Diaz has decided not to make any changes on the defense side of the ball or on Special Teams tells me much of what I need to know about him as a HC.

Also, our defense looked bad many times this year including in two of our losses against UNC on 4th and 17 and Vatech game. Baker needs canned also, but Diaz won't do it.

Rumph, Banda, Stroud, Baker, Patke are not dynamic recruiters nor are they great coaches from a technical perspective either. Just look at the respective positions they coach and where have we improved besides Rousseau looking like an All American?! This staff on BOTH sides of the ball is amateur.

Manny also refuses along with Blake James to bring on a GM Exec type to improve football operations at all levels. His job is more important than doing what is right for the program.

This guy is on his way to being fired in 2020 even with Lashlee being the new OC.

The culture of the football program is messed up badly and Diaz is part of that since he has been here since 2016.

He is not U of Miami or HC material.

We can only hope a new AD and leadership in the athletic dept next year will help change things for the better.
Preach

He will fail this year we all know it....either your vocal about it like we are or your secretly just hoping and praying. Praying that it gets turned around....slurpers are being tricked as usual. Reading fluff pieces from mods and staff writers....looking at portal players who can't make it elsewhere....but somehow they are legendary players when they get here blah blah blah......rinse wash repeat.

Hey UM make some real changes not patch work or putting lipstick on a pig.

Recruiting isn't good enough on defense. Fans love to pile on Rumph but he's the only good position coach on the team. How about hiring someone else to pick up the slack? Why do we need 3 LB coaches when Diaz is the best DC and Patke swung and missed on a kid who chose Nebraska instead? Why do we need a safety coach when Rumph should be able to coach the whole DB group? Why are we okay with Stroud who's a clear downgrade from Kul and Simpson - because the other guys are worse?

The standard needs to be greater.

Baker puts together a top 20 defense and fans want him fired after one season. I really do not understand it. I don't get why people do not understand there are rarely any elite defenses in power 5 football anymore without a complimentary offense. College football is offensive friendly and if your teams offense cannot provide a complimentary offense to go with your defense then they will struggle at times. I watched countless times our defense force a 3 and out or a turnover or force a big punt and then just watch the offense go 3 and out and do nothing. Our defense had to replace multiple starter's on the D-Line and pretty much the entire secondary and still gave up the 18th fewest points in power 5 football. I have no idea how anyone can think that's a fireable offense? This fan base always wants to fire someone if they do not see elite play.

This is a perfect situation for the phrase, "Better is the enemy of good enough."

Amen brother!

Our defense looked good this year at times because we were playing weak teams in the Coastal, that were running out second and third string QB's against us, and still lighting us up. V Tech, & G Tech, & Louisville all ran out there with 2 and 3 string QB's and basically roasted us . Duke QB was average at best, Morgan at FIU also lit us up, with quick throws that we never adjusted to. I still remember that 3 rd and 19 against FIU, where they basically ran a draw up the middle and made the first down. Sorry, this defense is not sound fundamentally, yes very exotic with blitzes that never get to the QB, bad tacking team ( 29 missed tackles against G Tech), constant breakdowns in the secondary , sorry call me not impress.

I look at the no changes as a positive. The BOT wont spend the money to buy out contracts as sacrificial lambs, instead is ready to buy out Manny a Blake next year
