I'm a aspiring firefighter/paramedic who works for a private ambulance company at 20 years old already working on my second degree with most people at my stage of my career are in their mid to late twenties, I deal with death/heartbreak almost every time I report to shift do you really think i give a **** about what an old, miserable piece of sh*t of a human saying to me over the internet ?? Yea you're right, I'm not you. I'm not a miserable low life who works a miserable and boring 9-5 job that means nothing to this world, I chose to do something with meaning even if I'm paid less than you guys but at least when I'm old and frail and people ask me what I did when I was young I can say that I saved lives, I gave people a 2nd chance, I gave them hope even when their was none to be had, and I did it with pride and love. You will never, ever be able to say that. You have an esteem boosting fascination in trying to call out your accomplishments (then saying you don’t) to everyone who will listen (as you did in about your last 50 posts..I exaggerate). Your comment of already working on your second degree is a huge stretch (borderline lying), as by your own admission you aren't a firefighter/paramedic (neither are degree req’d positions in the traditional sense, nor is ambulance crew). An EMT-1s should be proud, but with your behavior, you are embarrassing them. At best you are a LPN, CNA, or less…and let me be very clear that is ok…it’s respectable…it’s admirable…you should get an atta boy…but have you even advanced past BLS? You aren’t even allowed to break the skin (auto-injectors don’t count!). Don’t get me started on ALS or PALS. I’ve fired/relieved more Docs, Nurses, Techs, and PhDs from leadership positions than you’ve ever met in your entire life..so what? Who cares. I'd bet during your vocational program (again laudable) you were the student who would get irritated and argumentative during practicums and didactics when the instructor corrected you, and probably often. If I speculated further, in 5 years you will likely still be telling friends and family “I’m an aspiring x, y, or z”. It’s good to have goals, keep it up.
These words may sound insulting to you, I get it, but I’m trying to do patients a favor here, and by connection you as well. Pick another career field unless you change your vector 180 right now. Your lack of technical expertise (although you don’t see it) combined with your hubris are going to kill a patient (if tragically hasn’t happened already). You’ve probably already tried something outside your scope of practice or struggle to follow protocols. You mention how brilliant you are because you prepare pre-hospital transport documents read in court (again, don’t kid yourself). Congratulations, you provide one snippet (important to be sure) in a patient's extensive medical record...on par and no different than when our check-in clerks ask for their insurance information (that also can be read aloud in court...it's very dramatic when it happens). The CREW you are lucky enough to be part of provides invaluable enroute care, and often times from situations where you are spit and yelled at, maybe even punched, in neighborhoods that could care less that you are there, and all for pay far less than you earn…far less that needs to be addressed and corrected. You seem to be a Broward guy, so on behalf of all 954 types, you do a service to the community for sure. I’m not convinced however, you are a trusted member of your crew or shift-wide. The CREW is what helps to save lives as you transport to our system of EDs…not you singularly George Clooney…in fact, it’s none of us singularly. None of us. If you were “us”, you would know that.

Do not be so cavalier and public with how you "deal with death/heartbreak on almost every shift". It's not a competition; I've experienced more wounds, more tragedy, more singles, doubles, triples, and quadruple amputees than you ever will…while getting shot at and mortared…and that’s a good thing for you and it sucks for us…I remember every single one of them…and it isn’t a burden (because that’s what it is) to be carried lightly…or talked about in public thumping your chest (do rhesus do that…I thought they were more the screaming type). Stand up and have quite pride in what you do…people will figure it out. I say this with all advice and compassion, if you are ¼ the tool you present yourself to be on this board, pick a different career field...you aren't built or wired for it...you are going to kill someone...and that's a tragedy I'd like to prevent.

He saw this last night and didn't decide to respond( I know you saw it, I made sure you were on when I hit reply ) until he researched what exactly my field does, he's probably not even in the medical field. If he was, he would now a pre-hospital care report is NO WHERE the check in info list you get at the front desk.
