Kuligowski quotes and stories - Add as you wish

Funny, it was widely reported that the D-Line was destroying the O-Line during camp this year.

Imagine what Kool is going to have Norton and Willis doing to them boys next year.

I feel terrible for Alex Gall and Danny Isadora. Those dudes are going to HAAAAATE practice next year.

That should only make our Oline better if they survive.

This is the type of coach I've dreamed of coaching the UM DL.

I have a feeling it's going to be like 2006, when Palermo said to the press "we are doing it my way now" and suddenly our DL was ridiculously good.

Yeah Palermo was/is good. Too bad we only had him one year.
I don't think he got along with Randy.
Too me he was the last good DL coach we had.

Petri was another good one that I hated when Al fired him. I honestly questioned Al as soon as he fired Petri to bring in his boys. In hindsight I completely understand that Al was the idiot I was afraid he might be at that time.

I forgot about Petri. Yep you are right.

Kul on players skipping class

[/COLOR]When one of his players skips class, Missouri defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski doesn’t yell.
He makes him come to his office at 6 the next morning and listen to a song.
“He fired up his iTunes and played it on repeat, and I’m just sitting there with my head down,” said Dominique Hamilton, a Tigers defensive tackle from 2007-11 who now plays for the Chiefs.
“But I quit skipping class.”
The song? It’s a profane single from comedian Denis Leary’s 1993 album “No Cure for Cancer.” The title isn’t fit for a family newspaper, but it’s about a guy who’s a world-class selfish jerk”

Yes, huge red flag.

I thought if any coach, al should retain Petri.

i was completely shocked. but petri was all about disruption so he wasnt co-signing paddy cake.

At the time Petri was the one guy I was almost certain would be retained. I remember there was a guy who posted over on Canesport free board who claimed to be Petri's son (I know, could be anyone, but the post had some passion in it) and claimed how ****ed Petri was to get fired after 1 season and how much he really wanted to stay. It was a really long post.

For anyone who doesn't remember his 1 year stint (2nd go around here):

Petri came to Durham after spending the 2010 campaign at ACC member Miami. That year, the Hurricane defensive unit ranked among the league’s leaders in pass defense (1st), pass defense efficiency (1st), opponent third down percentage (2nd), opponent first downs (2nd) total defense (3rd), sacks (3rd), and scoring defense (5th). Under Petri’s guidance, senior Allen Bailey earned All-ACC honors after leading the Hurricanes in quarterback sacks.

---If you don't believe our DL performance had no impact on our pass coverage, you are blind. Our pass rush was garbage the prior year and he turned things around quickly. See the link below to see some of the DL guys he coached.

I know it's not the recruiting board.. but the number of guys richt is offering late in the process, you gotta think a few studs are gonna come once they see who their position coach is gonna be. We have a very bright future as long as we can keep KOOL for the long run like Mizzou did

Kuligowski’s defensive linemen have built a reputation for relentlessness, but it’s his relentless day-to-day approach — with those drills and in film study — that produces results.
“I can’t say I’ve been on another team where we pass rush every single day, every single period,” Hamilton said. “His pass-rushing techniques and everything he teaches about it, he will have you pass rushing all day. Every coach I’ve been with has had a good knowledge of pass rushing, but he’s exceptional.”

I just Hulk'd my underwear.

When is this actually going to be announced? Why wait so long? Are we waiting to announce the new DC in tandem?

Found an "everybody calm down" piece from a Mizzou site regarding Kuligowski. After his attempt to make an argument for why Kul is replaceable, you come away more convinced that he's exactly not.

Advanced notice that the article is bland and slightly incoherent, save for a tacked on paragraph that suggests Kul isn't a scheme fit, not unlike the analogy the author forces.

Craig Kuligowski is the Bill Brasky of Assistant Coaches

Yeah. And it's a little odd we've heard nothing direct from anyone either. Kuligowski hasn't said a word.

And yet on the other hand, what with the national media saying he is coming down here, you would think that if it was NOT the case, Kool would have said something by now.

While Kuligowski did a top notch job at Mizzou, the truth of the matter is that none of these Mizzou teams truly won anything. Division championships in both the Big 12 and the SEC are impressive. Bowl game wins can be impressive. But when the team had the most to play for, they did not come through with wins. That tells me that everyone should have been considered replaceable.

This paragraph is just bizarre.

So, the DL coach does a great job, but because you didn't win enough, you fire the guy who has done a great job. Brilliant.

Talked to a Georgia OL who played his high school ball where I coach, he said Missouri's D line was consistently the best they played against every year.

Yeah I couldn't wrap my head around that point either. Literally never heard that argument used against a position coach in my life.

Not a single assistant has been announced though. It's not just KOOL.
Richt will do it all at once, like he should. There will be a presser and lots of Tim Reynolds Q&A.
