I have seen some worry that if Aranda were to be hired his style of defense is too similar to folden's and Dorito, however with the Kuligowski hire it should be pretty evident we are getting a DC that knows his ****.
A savage such as Kuligowski wouldn't come to Miami if he didn't know who the DC was and knowing his style of aggressive-upfield play (what Miami has been lacking). Moreover, he wouldn't take a job where his scheme and teachings on the DLine wouldn't be seen in game, especially knowing his track record on the Defensive Front at Mizz and being one of the most prolific DLines coaches in the country he must have had a ton of offers. Kool must have seen the potential of our team and most likely has been in contact with our new DC.
Kuligowski is known for his aggressive protostype style DLine players and I don't think he would sacrifice his coaching method to fit a passive style of play. Even though Aranda is known for having a consistent top 15 D at a P5 program his statistics for making plays behind the line of scrimmage haven't been great, however coupled with Kuligowski's knowledge and skills Miami's defense could be one of the best in the country in regards to our talent and the fact we are actually getting REAL professionals at their respective job positions.
We have been shafted as fans witnessing the 3-4 style defense we witnessed these past couple of years at the U, especially knowing how dominant we were running the 4-3. However, a competent coach won't have LB's covering the slot and the 3-4 can be just as effective using an aggressive "get after it" style of play. At the end of the day it all comes down to defensive packages and using them in the right situations, for instance not having 4 LB's on the field on 3rd and long or on 3rd and short having the LB's 6 yards of the LOS. I think as fans we are in for a treat this upcoming season especially knowing how balls to the wall Richt is going with his staff. IMO this is his final Job and is looking to cement his legacy here at the U.
I think the most important thing to mention is the amount of pure talent we have in our own backyard here in South Florida. Kuligowski and any other coach who comes in is salivating at the chance to work with these kids.
TLDR: Kuligowski knows who the DC is when he accepted the hire and his savage style of play in making plays behind the line of scrimmage will be in full effect. Miami is trending up.
