KR/PR Who’s The Next Gamechanger?

Not saying he’s good or bad at it, but that’s how our returns are designed. It’s not a free lance run where you think is open. There are different creases that the play is designed to run through depending on what is called
So there is a problem with our coaching. My question to you and all the coaches is if we have route trees for wr’s, are there return trees for players to be able to change there return depending what he sees developing in front of him? Do guys get in trouble for improvising on returns?
Thanks

If the crease closes right away then he has to find open space, but if right off the bat he just sees the left side of the field open he can't just hit that. The design is to push the alley that the play is designed to hit for as long as possible.

I'm glad Devin Hester never believed that.

The special teams blocking is the worst it's been that i've ever seen in any level of football. Which means the CoRch needs to get his **** together asap.

But Jeff Thomas would be the one... if only we can block even on an average level.

I've been griping about ST for at least 10 years. Hartley is a best on the trail but he's garbage at coaching ST. And it's not just blocking on returns. Punt game sucks field goal game sucks.

LMFAO at you guys. Jeff Thomas is really, really fast and shows a lot of promise at WR. But he is not a good kick returner. Maybe he can house one against Bethune Cookman or something, but he's not the guy that should be returning kicks. Of course the blocking will look terrible if the guy runs in a straight line.

Or he was a true freshman and our return blocking was trash.

Totally respect your perspective on this. I would counter with sometimes you have to let an athlete just be an athlete.

It was frustrating watching him run into a wall of defenders after 10 yards just cause that's the play that was called.

He is an off the charts fast, dynamic change of direction athlete. Give him an opportunity to make a man miss in space and house it.

I can't remember the games, but on one kickoff he got it on the far left hash and sprinted to the right almost horizontally.

I never understand the "true freshman" excuse. If you're saying he's too inexperienced to be out there, he shouldn't be out there. He made enough mental errors at WR last year that he should be focusing on that exclusively. Again, any return blocking will look like trash when you run straight into the guys and can't shake any tackles. I've never heard "return blocking is trash" before, ever. And there's no way this is our worst group of special teams players with the horrid 10 years prior. You guys just latch onto certain players and make up worlds of excuses for them. Watch the games.

I agree, I'm not sure if things have changed since I've left, but I would like to see more changes on the fly depending on where the ball is kicked

Jeffs problem is the same as our last several. He has straight line speed but he is not shifty and he has no vision

Just because your fast doesn't mean you will be a great return man. **** u can be a great Wr RB that dont make u a great Return man. HESTER the best return man ever was average at best at WR or DB. KR PR is a whole different set of skills a player must have. Quick in decision-making agility and fearlessness are a must.

I saw that man go crazy in the Under Armor game when he was just able to be himself and not think. Juked the **** out of an entire defense of all American fb players twice for TDS.

I think he wasn’t in the right comfort zone to display the type of vision that he’s capable of maybe I’m wrong but maybe he’ll make ppl believers this season.

Only way for ST to improve is better coaching .... in 30 years for watching the canes, last year was probably the worst overall ST work I have seen... even mafia man Don Pannu had a better ST on the field
