Kosar/Cirrhosis of the liver/Parkinson's Disease.

Not attacking Bernie, but he is a well documented alcoholic correct?

Brutal disease once its grip takes hold.

That explains his liver disease. The studies are all over the place wrt alcohol + Parkinson (both as preventative and cause).

We all wish his family the best.

Correct

Not hating. Buddy drank. It is what it is.

A dead organ usually doesn't fall outta the sky.
Oh I was not trying to start anything. You never know what anyone is going through. My father had to quit drinking or it was going to kill him, pancreatitis. Also was just crazy as **** at times.

Both sides of my family bigtime.....

Luckily it missed my parents.

The article is disturbing to read in that Kosar estimates over 100 concussions and 15 seizures as a player.

I would also be surprised if they performed a liver transplant for a person with Parkinson’s. Unfortunately organ transplants are hard to come by.

Not if you got the money and a ticket to Ukraine.

They may not have a match - but they'll procure one real quick.

Bernie engineered the most exciting sporting event and quite possibly, the most electric evening of my life. The memories of running on the field after we beat Nebraska for the first title in January of 1984 is a singular moment I will never forget.

He retains a special place in my world. I wish him nothing but good luck.

My brother is an alcoholic. Got into opioids too and his wife left him while he was on a business trip. Lives with our mom now and still drinks...she won't kick him out because she basically helps take care of his son. One of our best friends also, golf pro in Florida, then got into gambling debt. Blew his head off in a hotel room. Wild stuff...some can enjoy moderately some can't.

God bless you Bernie.

Same with my dad. It caught up with him eventually at 74 even though he had dried out for over 10 years.

This is my problem as well. Watching the Sean Taylor highlights the other day I was loving it when he tackled guys high and then talked sh*t to them about coming over the middle. But then I read this about Kosar and it makes me pause as I think about the damage done to his body and brain.

I guess where I come down on this is that as long as people know the risks, then as adults they have the right to accept the risk. Kind of like smoking cigarettes. And it is hard to argue today that someone playing today does not know the risks.

It’s modern day gladiators. Gambling, entertainment, large crowds, Colosseum/stadiums, injuries.

Everyone except children know the risk and what it’s all about.

My dad quit drinking, fighting, and shooting firearms within city limits and became very religious. Nothing wrong with that but at times I am judged on some stuff that seems very trivial compared to what I saw and know happened once upon a time.
