Kosar/Cirrhosis of the liver/Parkinson's Disease.

The article is disturbing to read in that Kosar estimates over 100 concussions and 15 seizures as a player.

I would also be surprised if they performed a liver transplant for a person with Parkinson’s. Unfortunately organ transplants are hard to come by.

I hate some of the new school football rules, and lord knows they need to keep trying to make them better….but I get it

This is my problem as well. Watching the Sean Taylor highlights the other day I was loving it when he tackled guys high and then talked sh*t to them about coming over the middle. But then I read this about Kosar and it makes me pause as I think about the damage done to his body and brain.

I guess where I come down on this is that as long as people know the risks, then as adults they have the right to accept the risk. Kind of like smoking cigarettes. And it is hard to argue today that someone playing today does not know the risks.

Problem is much like smoking is the risks aren’t just about the person engaging in the behavior. It’s negatively impacting people around these players, especially if you buy into some links with violence

It’s still just a game at the end of the day

Sad, just really sad. Unfortunately, life after football has seemed to be really rough for him physically, mentally, financially, and emotionally. Hopefully he can get a liver transplant and he can control the Parkinson's for a while.

If an adult supporting themselves makes a decision who am i to tell them how to live. I loved and miss the hard hits. That many seizures and concussions what really kept him playing though? Maybe love of the game, maybe having to keep up with a lifestyle you get used to.
