Kobe Smith 2016 DT As a Miami Prospect

I have to ask myself why massive 2016 DT/NT Kobe Smith from Georgia, doesn't have a Miami offer yet ( or at least a non-committable offer that change after his JR year) , the young man projects to be an ideal fit for an extremely athletic NT which miami can use. It is rare to see a 6'3" 320lbs two-gap type NT that can run sideline to sideline. He does need to improve his on field awareness, but that will come with experience and training as he gets older an red shirts in college.

Currently Smith is flying under the radar with only having a few mid-major FBS offers, and UM could get a peach state steal by jumping on this young man early. UM's 2016 class is off to a great start but needs some serious beef, and landing him early would be ideal in order to hold off UGA coming after him later.

Adding 2016 DT/NT Benjamin "Shug" Frazier (from Buford HS) along with Kobe Smith would give UM a great start to the dline interior class by pulling in these two georgia boys.

Article from back in May, where Frazier names UM & LSU his Top 2 schools that are standing out to him

Anybody else notice we are not offering prototypical nose tackles so far in this class?

Which could be a big mistake because these types don't grow on trees and there are about 7 to 10 good ones for the 2016 class an they will be start coming off the board soon. The state of Georgia is loaded this year with some truly beastly NT's

Hopefully we do reach out to them soon. Both are from ELITE programs that play against GREAT competition week in and week out!

Paranos I'm wondering if its a sign we are transitioning fronts to an even front. Smaller faster guys who can play through the gaps. Think Dominique Easley types.

That would be ideal for Miami but with Golden at the helm I wouldn't hold my breath. I will say this though when the 3-4 is run properly with big massive TNT's up front and speedy LB's behind them blitzing from any where the scheme works well.

There should be a DT breathing that we haven't offered. Golden has NO, I MEAN NO IDEA THAT IF YOU STACK THE DLINE WITH BIG STUDS AND LET THOSE SPEEDY SOFL LB'ERS, CB AND SS RUN ON THE BACK SIDE IT WOULDN'T BE FAIR. Instead he trying to resurrect Jo Pa's 1984 defense.

Here are 2016 NT Kobe Smith's Jr Season highlights from Fall 2014. **** UM needs to flip this young.

Kids Benchs over 400lbs as a Junior and squats over 500lbs. Rather constantly having to go after JUCO's miami needs to continue to bring country strong DT's/NT's an hopefully redshirt a few, irregardless of whom is Head Coach UM will still need big massive players to man the interior.

Whoop Whoop UM is quietly reaching out to Kobe Smith to prime the recruiting fires!

At least it is a start, lets see if now if they will turn up the heat because the kid seems to be interested in looking around while reassuring NC St he is solid an we all know how that story goes.

Good to know. Seems to play that head up technique well and surprisingly quick for his size. Looks like a good fit scheme wise, but could also bump out to the 3-technique in 4 man fronts.

Bad thing is that Auburn is now in the mix recruiting the Kid, an Will Muschamp offered Smith's linebacker teammate Donta Evans (apparently Evans made quite the impression with a white board demonstration by Evans of his FBI in breaking down defenses during a recent unofficial visit, so Muschamp offered him on the spot). An FYI Evans is manchild beastly ILB at a true 6'2" 225lbs.

Article about AU offering Donta Evans based in part off of his White Board demonstration of FBI for Muschamp

Auburn offered a few of Archer HS players including a 2017 kid.

So things are going to heat up significantly with young mr. Smith's recruitment over the next few months, especially if he has a good showing at the Atlanta RCS camp next week.

Evans is #5 and Smith is #95 this picture was taken back in Feb at UGA

That is why it's called quietly, until it is more public.

Remember when you said that UM would be in the race for Neville Gallimore and get a visit?
