Padres get their broadcast rights back from Bally, other MLB teams are working on it.

This MIGHT COULD BE a novel approach to defeating the GOR down the road, that the monetary disparity should be a reason for dissolving the arrangement.

GRANTED, Bally has MISSED PAYMENTS to the Padres (twice) and others like the Rangers (once). The other teams are also suing Bally.

Still, it's an interesting thought process to work through, since it goes beyond the dollar amounts themselves, sets aside the agreement, and reverts the broadcast rights back to the team.

We won all our National Championships - as an independent.

An independent - THAT IS A REALLY SUCCESSFUL TEAM - gets paid to play very, very well. And as an independent - you keep your money.

And - you get to play top payout teams - from any and every conference.

Miami won 2 titles as a member of the Big East.

Secondly, it’s a different world in college football in 2023 vs 1989. A huge portion of the athletics budget is a TV contract and right now Notre Dame is the only team with an exclusive network TV deal. Non-ND independents have to scramble to fill their schedules every year. It’s not easy because most teams play 8 or 9 conference games and non-conference slots are limited. With conferences expanding to up to 24 teams, negotiating ooc games will get even tougher. Independence would be the death knell for the program.

We wore the Big East patch in 1991, though we only played TWO Big East games that year.

But we DEFINITELY represented the Big East in 2001.

I was slamming it HOME - the least you could have done was overlook that one, tiny, insignificant detail.

This was a really good narrative, it got lots of attention - and then the D***ed fact checkers screwed it up!

We could have been independent next year!!!!!

Gentlemen - all three here (I'm confident Cribby is still here in overwatch) - and then the rest of you - that when one has a good narrative pressing lots of souls upward to soar, and as they listen - and likewise start to see the vision for themselves - it's just rude to pop in a meaningless fact.

Uhhh nothing to struggle with my guy.

Won the Natty in ‘91
Lost the Natty in ‘92
Won the Natty in ‘01
Lost the Natty in ‘02

Those 4 seasons alone make our stay in the Big East incomparable to this **** show performance since being in the ACC

And let’s throw in the ‘00 season where we should’ve played for it. **** makes my head hurt.
