Know Your Enemy - 2025 Miami Hurricanes vs 2025 Notre Dame

He will. The down year was the exception for him not the rule. He has been a 80% kicker since high school, 2024 is the only season in his life that he has kicked below 80%. In high school his career average was 81% and his first two years as the starting kicker at Texas his average was 81.85%
Thank you again for all of the above information and for answering my questions-it really is so very appreciated! Stuff like this is why this board is the best.

Last one(s), if you don’t mind…

So I get why Auburn had a down year in 2024 and theoretically should return back to regular form in 2025. And so I assume then the reason he transferred is just like any other transfer like a Carson Beck type who had another year to prove their stuff before trying to get drafted and that was it? No other issues from previous coaches, right?

And as far as everyone’s general concerns about our STs this year, it seems a lot was just about it being the unknown then (i.e., not having a Borregales after so long)? Is that your take?

This season was tough on him in Texas and I think he just wanted a fresh start. He missed some important field goals and the fans did what fans do.

I honestly believe the general concern is rooted in simply not knowing what they are looking at when judging special teams or specialist, and only truly watching Miami special teams. If they actually did they would know that college kickers at best are 75% there just simply not many Borregales types out there.

Finally I think people forget how thin this team was in the secondary or how slow it was at linebacker and those are typically the guys on your kick coverage teams. So when you roll a 175 non physical Market Williams out there because he is all you have, you get him missing easy tackles simply because he is just not good enough.

Now this is what Miami has to put in the mix for the coverage teams

Keionte Scott 6-0 195
Kamal Bonner 6-2 220
Briton Allen 6-0 195
Chris Wheatley-Humphrey 6-0 200 (red shirted in 24)
Kellen Wiley 6-4 240
Amari Wallace 5-10 180
Chris Ewald 6-0 185

More talent usually means better coverage and now Miami has the most talent it has had in 20 years according to this post.

More great points, and well-written too! Thank you again for your thorough analysis and patience in answering my questions.

If you’re interested, I think these posts would make a great main post on ST for the board. You seem very knowledgeable about this subject and it would benefit many to see it all laid out in this way.

Now what yo worry about for the next 34 days… 🤣

No problem at all brother

  • The 2025 Hurricanes have the highest blue chip total of any squad in the last twenty years. It presently jumps from 42 in 2024 to 53 this year. This is the first time that blue chip totals have exceeded 49 players in at least twenty seasons.
