Absolutely baffles my mind how an Offensive minded guy like Napier can think that QB room is sufficient.

Who TF watches Graham Mertz Wisconsin film & goes, “We need to get this guy..” lol

He doesn’t even fit Napier’s system nor is he his style of QB... I have to know what the **** did he see that provoked him to make that decision?

It's horrible. And if Mertz fits your system, then your system probably needs changing, lol.

Thanks OP! I feel better about the Offense broken down like this. Goes without saying, TVD has to stay healthy though. A few addtl observations:

* Noticing we're three over the 85 limit...which three will be cut?
* Look forward to the day I don't see Ragone and Flagg
* Our Safety Depth is thin..pray for no injuries
* At corner we NEED Brown Bros, Stafford and J. Davis to play well
* OL and DL will be very good. Surprise many
* Healthy Chaney and Citizen can make the RB room go from very good to elite

This team stays relatively healthy, and I'm sticking with my 9-3 regular season record prediction.

All are off the current roster (I believe). One poster said Dom is retiring for health reasons- not confirmed. The other two portal find a more appropriate home.

I like this kid as a person and he could probably be someone I could be proud to call my son, but the only way he should ever play at the University at Miami is if the score is like 60-0 midway though the 3rd quarter.

I think he panicked for a guy with experience: maybe did not expect Richardson to leave. Still a rough qb room

Several Zoom meetings with Gattis on how to make Mertz fit. 🫨
 
Graham Mertz - Barely threw for 2100yds on the season, had 10INT’s & only completed 57% of his passes.

Here’s what he did vs the B1G:
- vs Oh ST, 11/20 94yds 1TD & 1INT 55%cmp
- vs Illinois, 17/32 206yds 1TD & 2INT’s 53%cmp
- vs Mich ST, 14/24 131yds 2TD’s & 1INT 58%cmp (In an Overtime game)
- vs Purdue, 13/21 203yds 2TD’s & 0INT’s 61%cmp
- vs Maryland, 5/18 77yds 0TD’s 27%cmp
- vs Iowa, 16/35 176yds 1TD & 2INT’s 45%cmp
- vs Nebraska, 8/18 83yds 1TD & 1INT 44%cmp
- vs Minnesota, 16/27 170yds 0TD’s & 1INT 59%cmp

And that was just last year, he was actually even worse in 2021.

So when you’re eval’in tape & you’re going down the checklist how does he even make the cut?
What was that staff meeting like?

Napier: “He’s got minimal arm talent, inaccurate, couldn’t hit the ocean from Beach, isn’t mobile at all, doesn’t really play in the style of Offense we run & is a turnover machine. Let’s face it fellas, this kid is fckin terrible, I mean I been sitting here watching tape of his last 2 seasons & I can count on my knuckle hairs how many good throws let alone how many good games he’s had...

O’Hara: “So he’s a no right?..”

Napier: “Oh nah, lets bring him in right now & make him our starter”

O’Hara: “Starter?!?... You mean like not as a backup but starter for the season? We’re not bringing in anybody else?”

Napier: “Nope!”

Yeah, I can't see them winning many games this season with that roster, especially the QB and the offense in general. Hopefully we're doing a full court press on a few of their better verbal commits (e.g. Hayes in case Rohan's nephew doesn't come). That group is going to disintegrate by the end of the season.
