Kirby Smart is a Corch

That **** 2001 team was on autopilot. And Coker was already on that staff.

Kirby actually took some lumps his first year. (they went 8-5)
You saw the improvement this year with an NC birth and a top recruiting class. They're trending upwards from where they were when he took over.

Coker's tenure NEVER trended upward.

I see your point, and it's a respectable one, but I think the situations are slightly different.

When they go 9-3 next year will you then revise your "upward" trend claim?

But saying Richt had nothing to do w UGA success this year is like saying Butch had nothing to do w 2001/2002 Miami

Coker basically won 2 national championships and was 24-0 (and was on the previous staff) and yet people give him no credit.

But somehow they want to praise Kirby Smart for having a worse winning percentage that Richt did in his first two years at Georgia.

Only game they should lose next season is against Auburn. They have an absolute joke of a schedule in an absolute joke of a conference. If he goes 9-3 next year, then firing Richt was officially a waste of time and resources.

I guess you cant count the game against LSU as a legit game then for Miami. That leaves Miami with a pretty poor schedule. Unless of course you were talking about the SEC East, which is a division and not a conference. If you were then it's no use engaging you any further as you are another poster who doesn't actually watch college football outside of Miami. In case you didn't know this, the Coastal is the worst DIVISION in any Power 5 Conference.

I think Coker gets something of a bad rap that's not entirely deserved. (Especially considering his 2 successors did even worse, and as I noted on another thread people are now praising Richt for the same type of seasons that got Coker on the hot seat.) But comparing the situation Smart inherited and the situation Coker inherited is absurd.

richt has already done better than coker did in his last three years at miami. however, context is critical. even if we agree for arguments sake that richt achieved the "same type of season" as coker, he did it while rebuilding this program. coker had an elite program and went 9-3, 9-3 and 7-6.

LSU will be a legit game only from an exposure perspective imo, but they'll end up stinking it up by season's end. No reason why we shouldn't smash them, and if we don't, it'll be highly concerning. I see them being an 8 win team at best next season. Agreed on the Coastal being terrible, but disagree on it being the worse. You're right about conference as well, as I did mean SEC East (trash). Engage further or don't engage. It's all good, brother. Go Canes.

I was talking about Coker's 9-3 seasons (which got him on the hot seat), not the 7-6 season that got him fired.

I get that Richt didn't inherit a program in good shape. But I still don't get why people are crowning him. Richt has proven he can get the program back to a good level. There still is no proof he can get things to a great level.

I agree with your overall point, but the Coastal isn't the worst division.

B1G West, Pac-12 North, and Pac-12 South are not any better. And the SEC East was also on that list until Florida and Tennessee made coaching changes.

ACC coastal is middle of the road ... Not as good as the SEC West, B1G East, or ACC Atlantic, but on par with SEC East and the B1G 12 ... And better than the other 3 divisions.

Well..now we can tell Georgia fans to shut the **** up. They can choke with any guy besides Mark Richt, and they have been choking for 30 years.

Suck it.

Sure. But when they go 11-1 the following year I'll renew it.

What makes yall think a Saban disciple, who (also) recruits at a high level, is going to fail at UGA?

Not saying it's impossible, I'd just like to hear the logic.

Regardless of how Smart does for the rest of his tenure, he still will have come closer to winning a NC at UGA than Richt ever did.
