If Mario balks... You ok if Manny comes back? That's the scenario that keeps the door open. I don't think anyone advocating for Kiffin over Mario. Buyout stayed the same. Set the market price for his services that's all. He has more leverage at this point.
I said early on that I'd be ok with Manny another year if it meant we got the right guy next year, but I'm over that now. Truth is, we're no more certain of getting a great coach next year than this year. The class is a mess, and who can Manny hire with his position looking so shaky? I don't know who we go after if Mario doesn't work out (which is funny because I'm 53% certain he won't), but I hate the idea of willingly wasting a year on a guy we know we don't want.

So do I, but Mario is obviously the guy. He can recruit for sure and hopefully brings in an OC and DC that will get it done.
Not only did we not hire Lane over Mario we gave Mario unbelievable leverage to bring whoever he wants, probably his entire staff besides coordinators. He can probably bring his overrated, underperforming S&C coach Feld.
