Kickoff Classic 1999

Was there. James Jackson! Came up from Avalon Stone Harbor with my buddies and just kept the train rolling. All were Canes that day since I would have slashed them with a sickle if they rooted for taint.

Kenny Kelly? Stop man. Kid would have been a good qb had he not been splitting time w baseball. Moss drops a wide open pass against FSU.

The refs ***** us on a 4th down spot vs psu and then either shiano calls a horrible defense the last min or rumph or reed blows coverage vs fields.

I was standing 20ft from Butch during 99 Penn St vs UM game...Ref shorted Jackson by atleast 1/2 a yard...Butch lost his mind...Shiano's Defense on last play was atrocious....Chuck was livid...We had NO business playing up that close especially on a Wet field....Morgan blitzed on the last play...and came a hair from Sacking QB....
 
By at least a half yard. If not more. Right spot and game over.

Not sure we’ll ever know if that was on sciano or reed. Reed was young. Did sciano call cover 2 and reed was supposed to be deep and got caught to close to the LOS? Or did sciano call for press coverage? How do we know?

Facts.....Even though I’m biased because Kenny use to be my hitting coach in middle school thru HS

Schiano called Press...Rumph slipped...Reed was outta place/Bad angle....Chuck still is Mad to this day....and why in Gods name do you have a LBer Blitz and call for Press coverage??....smfh...

I was there. Hot as balls. JJ and Najeh would have been something to watch for a whole season. Najeh, pre-injury had an unreal size/speed combo. JJ is one of my all-time favorites. Every time he scored he acted like he had been there a million times. Loved his game.

If Schiano called press Rumph did I pretty poor job at it. He was back peddling at the snap.

Terribly called Defense, on a "ONE" Play "Game Over Stop"....I'll take it to my Grave...I wanted to Throw up....I stood there in Disbelief...I'd also like to add, NO possible way on Earth, does Chuck put his secondary in that type of situation, at that time and importance of a game. Watch Chucks DBs at Cleveland...Oakland...UNC (with Butch)...and with the Ravens....Always had a Top 3 NFL Secondary, with a few yrs as #1...Just the field ALONE...should've told you Press is a No-No...again I don't mean to reiterate, but you had ONE play to scheme against...
 
I don’t think he was back pedaling. I think he slipped at the line and immediately had to turn and run w fields.

The reality is that is was that is was a perfect throw by the qb. Perfectly placed.

No slip and clearly back pedaled.
 
I just watched it. I either have to disagree with caneinorlando on what was called or rumph didn’t do what he’s supposed to. That’s not press coverage. He didn’t jam him, wasn’t in his face. He just turned and bailed and ran with him.
