Key games for the ACC

People watch our games too, especially when we’re winning. We definitely belong with the SEC or B1G in terms of viewership.

ACC blows and the schools just don’t care as much about football.

I say f*ck it, let’s do the SEC ASAP. If we join in 3 years Mario has enough time to STACK classes and we’ll be moving in right on time to make waves
We can be a major TV ratings draw but because there's so few marquee ACC matchups, we rarely get prime viewing opportunities.

I'd rather the ACC rise just to fùck over what the SEC and Big10 is selfishly trying to do to the league. Either that, or just go independent
One dead cat bounce year for the ACC would have zero effect on what the B1G and SEC are doing, and no one on the national landscape would care either.

Exactly. Plus besides the hardcore fans who are on the message boards, most Miami fans have a ton of other stuff going on and they don’t get as excited about games unless they’re marquee matchups or the team is one of the best in the country.

When we’re one of those best teams though, our reach is way bigger than anyone. Similar to USC during the Carrol years

This season may be the most important for the ACC in regards to respect. With all the talk of realignment we do NOT need to be the odd conference out. Only 1 consistent team has made it through the national weeds and that is Clemson. This year we have a lot of high profile matchups that IF we (the ACC & Miami) can win and put us in the spotlight and garner some national respect. There are a few games (and teams) I feel are most important we win as well as teams that have good seasons in order to get us there.

GAMES:

1. Miami @ Texas A&M
This one is pretty simple, A&M will be a top 10 team out of the SEC West to start the season and Miami is a question mark to many analysts. Going into Kyle field and coming away with a W would IMMEDIATELY put Miami in the top 15 (if not top 10) and bring all the talk to South Beach (the recruiting buzz would be insane as well). Miami & the ACC needs that win.

2. UNC Vs Notre Dame
Miami needs someone to also be good in the coastal this year, I feel like it does very little to win the coastal if everyone is down. UNC has been up and down since Mack brown has taken over but they have recruited fairly well since his arrival. ND on the other hand has been very strong the last 5 seasons and will surely be top 15 coming into this game. If they can pull this victory off and go into Miami undefeated that can potentially be a top 10-15 Matchup and have all eyes on us and the Tarheels.

3. Clemson @ Notre Dame
We cannot have Clemson be down this year. No matter how great it would be to win the ACC it’s important we have strong teams so we can’t hear the “MIAMI WON A **** CONFERENCE” over and over. Notre dame is still a national brand and although we don’t know how M Freeman will do in his first season as HC it doesn’t do Miami, Clemson or the ACC any good to take an L here.

4/5 PITT Vs West Virginia & PITT @ TENN
Pitt is not a big brand football wise and was quietly the best Coastal Team last year. Right off THE GATE they get two tough matchups to begin the year. A neutral site to WV & away to Tennessee. Like iv said before it’s important Miami has strong teams to accompany them in the Coastal. Winning both games would almost surely put them in the top 15 going into week 3 and strong momentum for not only them but for the conference.

6. FSU * LSU
I hate to say it but Miami needs FSU to have a good year, beating FSU when they’re 4-5, 5-4 or whatever is all great but it means very little to people outside of the rivalry. We need it to mean something to everyone. Brian Kelly will be in his first year there and i honestly don’t know how he will do or fit in there. But I do know LSU is blueblood and that FSU coming out of N.O with a win would be huge.

5 Teams we NEED to have strong seasons:

1. Miami: pretty obvious why
2. Clemson: the more consistent they are the better for us.
3. FSU: I hate to say it but again…if they have a strong season it only makes us look better and the conference look better, not to mention the momentum we could get winning against a top 20-25 FSU team.
4. UNC: a second strong costal team is IMPERATIVE
5. Nc State: they don’t have a tough schedule, they are already receiving a ton of hype and for them to prove everyone right with a 10/11 season (after bow games) would be great.
Bull. UM needs to win and FSU can go 0-12 as far as I'm concerned. Better for UM recruiting in the state. The ACC is on its way to possibly not even existing so .. just win our games and ***** the rest of the ACC.

**** the ACC and **** their redneck Tobacco Road bull****, and **** unc, **** Clemson and NC State can eat a bag of ****s. Hopefully none of those programs wins another game.

I agree that playing well in marquee games will help the program. More so in keeping the recruiting momentum and improving national standing. The ACC is dead man walking. The next few years sre going to be auditions for the SEC and B1G.

It's all coming down to money and the ACC can't add anything of value to increase tv revenue. ND is not going to join the ACC for football. They will join the B1G at some point. I think they'll just wait until the dust settles.

When Texas, Oklahoma, USC, and UCLA join the SEC and B1G, teams in those conferences will get $100M+/yr in TV revenue. There's no way for the ACC to compete with that.

Miami, BC, FSU, Clemson, NC State, and UNC will leave for the SEC and B1G at some point. There's no point trying to save the ACC for a crappie TV deal.

We had like 13 prime time games in 2020.

I would have fully agreed in previous years, but with it being increasingly likely that ACC is a mid major (if existing at all) within the next few years, really don’t think it matters much.

Personally, I hope FSU loses every game. I used to care about it being competitive, but truthfully, they’ve been so bad the last 4-5 years that I hope they stay bad and Miami embarrasses them. This helps Miami in recruiting, even if Mario will be a beast regardless.

What I do think is important, however, is that Miami doesn’t have any bad losses against teams who have far less talent, especially now that the coaching staff has been vastly upgraded across the board.

I don’t expect year 1 to be a complete turnaround, mind you, but there is no reason Miami shouldn’t at least win the coastal. Yes, we’ve said that year after year, but this is easily the best coaching staff Miami has fielded in a VERY long time. No more excuses.

Right now the only team that needs to have a good year is Miami. I doubt an undefeated season would get overlooked for the playoff. This year at least
