He has legitimate D1 playing experience. He knows the landscape of Florida. He’s excellent with his hands. And he even has background in converting some lankier tight ends to wide receivers.

He’s the total package and has my complete and total endorsement!

Can’t answer for him but my guess is he went for the slam dunks on paper and the shiny names.

Former wizard DC in steele, former highly-sought after HC/defensive mind in Strong at LB, UGA’s secondary guy, Broyles award winner at OC, another team’s OC as a QB coach…all sounds amazing on paper.

Everyone complimented our staff, & it looked like an All Star cast, but it was probably too many egos in one room, too.

All they had to do was just Coach what was there , not necessarily get it... Know what I mean...
Not saying they couldn't recruit but maybe just got used to not having too as hard as Mario does...

Yes, I see you are one of the many Mario Slurpers. He did such a great job going 5-7 last season and getting crushed to teams like Middle Tennessee State and Duke at home.

If I’m not wrong last year he was the last confirmed assistant, supposedly Mario wanted to find another TE coach (Coley?).

He's a cool dude. He's not a bad position coach. But I've long believed he's a better asset off-the-field and very upgradable as a position coach. Good recruiter but...ya know. He's just aight to me in his current role.
