Wayne Hills quarterback Kevin Olsen has trimmed his list of colleges down to five and expects to choose a school before his junior year officially ends next month.

"He has narrowed it down to, in no particular order, Miami, Auburn, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Alabama, to an extent," Chris Olsen, the quarterback's father and longtime Wayne Hills coach, said Wednesday. "That's what we're working with right now."

Kevin Olsen, who was offered scholarships by more than 20 Division I-A programs, has made unofficial visits to all five schools.

Miami has long been considered a strong possibility because Olsen's older brother, Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen, has strong ties to the ACC school for which he was a standout for three seasons. Chicago chose him in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

ESPN.com ranks Kevin Olsen the No. 7 quarterback and the No. 77 prospect overall in the national Class of 2013. Rivals.com ranks him No. 7 among quarterbacks and No. 131 overall.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Olsen has led the Patriots to back-to-back North 1, Group 3 championships in his two seasons as a starter. He completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,686 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2011. The Patriots finished 11-1 after an emotional, come-from-behind victory over Old Tappan, 15-12, in the sectional final at MetLife Stadium.

Olsen has accepted an invitation to play in the Under Armour All-American Game, likely to be played Jan. 3 in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was invited to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, scheduled for Jan. 5 in San Antonio, but had to choose one all-star game because it's logistically impossible to play in both.

Chris Olsen, whose teams have won eight sectional championships in 10 years, will coach in the Under Armour game. He was invited to coach in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
