Kendrick Norton 2015 DT from Jacksonville, FL as a Miami prospect would provide an interesting skill set to the dline because he can pay NT and DT.

Since his decommitment from FSU in the last days he has received alot of interest from SEC schools in particular UF, Auburn, and Tenn.

I think he is a plan C for Auburn at this point since they are in the drivers seat for both DT Daron Payne ( simply a beast) and DT Trenton Thompson ( beastly as well). An a lot schools are looking at him as a OG as well ( he is ranked as nations 12th best OG), so he could end up on the OL, but he has said he prefers to play Defense.

UF is the local fan favorite but, I get the feeling he wants out of The Jacksonville area. He came to the UM / UF game last year and also attended the UM /FSU game in Tallahassee. Also UF appears to be in the favorite to land DE Byron Cowart and DT Cece Jefferson. An with a commitment already from DT Andrew Ivie, the number of available spots in UF's 2015 dline class could be going against Kendrick Norton. This could play into Miami potentially providing an in state landing spot for Norton if staff where reevaluate recruiting this youngman.

Florida will drop Andrew Ivie for Norton. But according to 247 he doesn't have a Miami offer. It's like Florida can't miss on defense signing blue chips everywhere, but they can't buy an offensive player lol.

Im interested to know why he de-committed from Fla St and what they did to turn him away. I dont think he is coming here just off of gut feeling.

It kind of sounds like us. We seem to recruit offense very well. We can't seem to be able to sign a blue chip DT to save our lives.

-The Hurricanes weren't one of the early offers for Jacksonville (FL) Trinity Christian High School 4-star DT Kendrick Norton.

-UM came on board while he listed offers in the 20's - he now has over 40 offers.

-"Miami's recruiting me real hard," Norton said.

- "Coach Jethro (Franklin) is recruiting me - he talks to me about the facilities, things about the school."

-Norton says he's visited UM in the past and plans to visit again "when I get the chance."

-Previous reports have Norton high on Miami and Florida.

-But asked where Miami fits in, he says "I'm serious about Miami but I don't have any favorites yet, not really."

-Norton says he's unsure when he'll narrow down his list of favorites and says he "may" announce at the Under Armour All-American game.

-He says distance won't play a factor in his decision.

-Asked about UM, he says "I like the history of the program, but I don't know too much about the school. I'm going to be finding out more."
He says there's one overriding factor that will determine his college choice: "It'll be where I'm most comfortable," Norton said.

Thanks for posting.

Well that update definitely put the breaks on the whole Miami in his Top 2 vibe. It will be very telling if he makes it down to Coral Gables for U Day.

Why not Us? Is there any DT in America that realizes the opportunity here at the U? We bout to blow up and all we need is a couple DT's. Imagine being here in Miami on a top 10 team versus freaking Gainesville!!!!! There ain't nothing a 1/2 mile in any direction of that campus that would interest a 18-22 year old cat!

Opportunity involves both the depth chart (early playtime) as well as the ability of the staff to develop the talent.

Considering we haven't developed a DT since....
