Ken Dorsey & Paul Hilton

Wrong....Ken EASILY could've been coaching at FIU....Stop the stupidity...he's making more $$ as Asst AD....

The base salary for Assistant Athletics Director ranges from $65,345 to $107,990with the average base salary of $80,498. FIU is surely on the lower end so I doubt he's making bank right now.

Could he have been coaching? Maybe, however he isn't.

Objectively, being a qb coach in the NFL for 5 years and doing a solid job with Newton after being known as an intelligent player (how else would he have stayed in the NFL so long as a player with limited physical ability?) more than makes him qualified to be a playcaller/QB coach here. He is not a green offensive coach and paid his dues learning and developing in Carolina.

While he's at FIU now, I saw several other young qb coach/assistant qb coach types in the NFL from current top offenses who also looked very interesting:

1) Kevin Stefanski QB coach, Vikings. Been their qb coach last two years and also an assistant qb coach for five years there. 36 years old. Vikings didn't allow Giants to interview him for OC position, though.

2) Marcus Brady, QB coach Colts. Was OC/qb coach for like 5 years in the CFL and learned under Trestman. Also a former great small school QB. 39 years old.

3) Zac Taylor, QB coach, Rams. Former OC at Cincinnati under Tubs and QB coach under Dolphins for 3 years. He's been learning under McVay's system as WR coach and now QB coach. Only 35 years of age.

Obviously if Jon Richt had stayed in the NFL and worked his way up spending time even as an assistant qb coach or passing game coordinator for a few years he would have made sense as a qb coach/understudy. It's depressing to think about.

I seriously doubt a highly regarded NFL assistant is going to drop down to be OC or QB coach in college.

But you make a good point about Jon Richt. He was making a start in the NFL but rather than make his own way he jumped down to work with his father.

This whole desire to have people formerly associated with the program brought back as saviors is the sort of emotional baggage that holds this place back. Ken Dorsey? Why? Because he was a qb here? So was Richt. Oh, but Kenny hung around the nfl for a bit. Okay, great. Is he a great offensive mind? How do you think you know that?

Butch I preferred to Richt but four years later, he’s four years closer to playing Bocce for yuks. This place needs new blood, and someone who knows modern offenses.

Would you support him for a spot as an Assistant AD?

Other than an almost 20 year obsession with respect to Butch and an over 15 year one with respect to Dorsey, what would either truly offer? You can easily get a better QB coach/OC than Dorsey and Butch is approaching 70 and not exactly lighting the world on fire at FIU.

He's gonna Win his conference with a walkon QB and two starters who were shot....and whipping Kiffins *** tomorrow...

it's sad watching Canes fans posting crap like wanting coaches that is a pipe dream. like watching kids in real poor families writing a letter to Santa or people who have never had much money talking about what they would do if they win powerball.

Reminds me of an old poster in the the barbershop where I used to get my hair cut as a kid:

"When it's cold, you want it hot, when it's hot, you want it cold. Always wanting what you haven't got"
