Keith Heckendorf?

Johns is a MUCH better option. Did you watch the bowl game against a much more talented Ped State team? That offense was humming. It’s a very diverse spread that runs the ball well but also challenges vertically in the throw game.

Johns also had experience under Kevin Wilson, who is a master in the spread run game. I like to see a coach who has picked things up from a bunch of really good minds, and Johns has worked with Wilson, Kingsbury, Norvell, and Tim Lester, who has actually had some nice offenses at Western Michigan.

I think Johns is underrated as well. His resume is very good.

Hilarious to see people coming at me on Heckendorf as if he's the only OC I put in my OC Candidates thread.

I listed Lashlee & Kevin Johns & about 4 or 5 others... "LCE is wrong!" Lol, let's see Miami run that Offense & we'll see how wrong I am.

It's all good LCE.
You do a good job but folks are entitled to have honest and respectful disagreements.
We still love ya (no homo) man.

Why? Dudes got a legit offense. What’s wrong with all these Miami fans that want a “name” just cause he’s a name? How’d that work with Enos?!

Just get a great coach, who cares if anyone knows his name or not.

Enos wasn't a "name"—he was a nobody who did one year at a major program. Take away his quarterback coaching stint at Alabama and he was an average Arkansas coordinator and failed Central Michigan head coach.

Yeah. Calling Enos a journeyman is an insult to journeymen because his *** never went anywhere

If you guys think a dude like Heckendorf can deal with EGOmanaics like Martell, Perry, Wiliams, Pope, Harley, etc. I have a bridge to sell you.

These kids are constantly threatening to transfer if they don't get the playing time they deserve.

We need an OC to come in and clean house. A dude like Peckendorf ain't that guy.

Good luck.

We need someone to come in shake things up. Look at kids in their eyes and tell them that they’re lazy and entitled. Like how Mendenhall said he only had 20ish ACC caliber players when he took the job at UVA. Brutal honesty.

Our roster knew very early in the season that Enos wasn’t it. On top of that he’s a d-bag. In hindsight, not surprising the wheels fell off (again).

I think once they get introduced to an uptempo spread offense and realize the potential, their attitudes will adjust and more buy in will occur.

I have a lesser view of Lashlee than Heckendorf.

No problem with that at all...

I'm just saying, it's a lil premature to say I'm outright wrong on an OC that hasn't had Miami caliber talent yet.

Give him our current offensive roster & we Blaze the Coastal with our eyes closed running that system. UNC won the coastal running that same system, it's been proven it works even with mid level talent.

But my point was he wasn't the only OC I mentioned, he's one of my top 3, but not the only one.

He had better talent at UNC than results, and his ability to identify/recruit QBs was horrendous.

Has a great resume/tree and stepped up huge against a far more talented Ped State team. I always like to see what these boy geniuses do against better players, and he showed a colossal set of fruit.
Colossal set of fruit. I will Ibid your name when I drop that line this week. Tremendous description of someone with seeds.

They are not my first choices...but if you can get Heckendorf or Johns a bit cheaper than a premium OC and you can backfill the salary for OL Coach and WR Coach and get some more qualified guys there, I think its a fine enough hedge. The upgrade in coaching and recruiting might be worth taking a bit of a downgrade from my Gleeson dreams.

That may be true, but the Art of QB recruiting has essentially died in today's era due to the transfer portal.

The best QB in college the last 3 seasons have all been transfer kids, even if you're not a scouting savant as a coach you can still find a good QB in the Portal.

LSU has never been able to identify good QB's & they accidentally stumbled upon Joe Burrow.

Too many people worried about being right vs wanting the Canes to succeed no matter who ends up as the OC.

Any True cane will take winning over the joy of saying I told you so. Smh

Heckendorf probably will not end up being the guy anyway, My money is on SEAN GLEESON (not an insider just a hunch).
