Keep an eye on this...

TCU gets all the leftovers that Texas, Texas AM, Oklahoma and even Oklahoma State don't want. They are 2 and 3 star heaven.

I don't understand your first statement, because your 2nd is dead-on. TCU has always exceled with the scraps. That isn't going to change. If you are saying that now that UT has a competent HC and will actually start winning with thet 4/5 star talent and TCU won't be able to compete, I'd say that will still be a few years before that happens.

The point is pretty clear. Great coaching at TCU can only take you so far when Texas also has a great staff. Great coaches with 2 stars can't compete consistently against great coaches with 5 stars. Eventually, Strong will completely choke TCU out.

Disagree, and AU stated why.

You guys don't seem to grasp the point. If Patterson is happy finishing with 8 or 9 wins and being second fiddle to Texas, then he'll stay at TCU. If not, then he might be open to leaving especially if Strong flexes on him this Thursday only a year into a complete culture overhaul.

Of course it's guessing but I think he's fine having 8-9 win seasons with an occasional 10 win one. I would say different if he's only been there 4-5 years but he's been there over 15 years. I don't think guys like that are gunning for bigger gigs when they have a pretty darn good gig now.

A few things..

1. Texas isn't going to beat TCU this weekend. (Though anything is possible)

2. TCU is willing to spend more money than Miami. (See the stadium they just rebuilt as well as other facilities and coaches salary)

3. Patterson doesn't want to leave TCU and believe he can win there. Why else would he have never left.

4. DFW is talent rich and if he can put a good run together the next few years he may be able to change the perception similar to how Schnelly did it at Miami.

This.

This is what you guys need to understand about TCU that you aren't getting:

1. TCU is in Fort Worth.
2. SMU is in Fort Worth.
3. BOTH of these schools have very wealthy alumni bases.
4. They are both private schools, with a lot of $ to throw at their programs. (Remember that 30 for 30 on SMU?)
5. They don't like each other and are always trying to out do one another.

Patterson doesnt have to win national championships to be a god there. He just has to be better than SMU. That's why he hasn't left.

That Texas Oil money is real, fellas. Deal with it.

Almost none of this is true. SMU isn't even in Ft. Worth.

My bad -- You are right: I was typing too fast - SMU is appx an hr from the TCU campus. My point is/was - they're pretty **** close.

The rest of that is true - deal with it. Univ of TX couldnt even get Patterson to sit down with them - and you think Miami is going to afford him?

Patterson/TCU is OK with being mediocre - he doesnt have to win a NC to be a God there. Just be the best college in the DFW area and that will get him plenty of $$ and love.

This young man gets it. Some coaches are OK with making 3.5mil base and being a God IN THAT area of the state. DFW is a great place to live/coach.

Have you made it to any HS games this year, Andrew?

Here's a shot from Desoto-Allen last week at 11:00am in Jerryworld. Should be a couple of really good ones in 2 weeks.

I just looked up the TCU coaching staff over on the rivals.com database. They look like a bunch of gray beard, cigarette smoking sunsabiches that know WTF they are doing. Definitely WANT!!!!!

Blake James should make the call behind Goldens back just like Golden did with PSU. Make Patterson say no. If he says no then we are in no worse scenario. Yes then Golden can pack his ****!!

No way Patterson ever leaves TCU. He has everything he wants.

You tight with Coach Patterson? Do you call him Gare? Or GP?

they used to say that Chris Peterson would never leave Boise St.

He's now at U-Dub

You just never know.

Coaches understand the limitations of each job, IMO, and some are willing to act upon them

Are we sure that a marquee program has ever put on a full-court press on Patterson?

Miami needs to show some ******* balls and make the ******* call. I don't care if Golden gets his feelings hurt. Patterson would be a home run hire. I would also reach out to Mike Gundy.

Exactly. I'd make coach Pinkel tell me he's not interested too. These dudes in here like to make emphatic declarations as if they know the coaches personally and know what they're thinking.

we can't afford Patterson.

We CAN afford Patterson.... just that nobody associated with UM gives a **** enough about football to invest any money in a decent coach.

They're more concerned with keeping a clean cut image, and the only reason they don't shutter the football program altogether is so they can milk a little free money from gullible diehards.... the only fans that are left.

The majority of our fanbase walked out the door years ago.

Al Golden with his ties and pressed shirts, his pillars and his process.... he's perfect for what Donna and the BOT want. Don't kid yourself.

My God. I wish. Wanted him the first time around. Wanted Sumlin this last time. Got Randy Shannon and Al Golden, respectively. Cool.

No, you are missing the point here. Big schools have put the full press on GP. He has said no every time. He loves TCU. Been there 15 years. Comparing him to Chris Petersen is just stupid. Chris has a special needs kid and had very selective relocation criteria.

We all can dream, but this is just unrealistic. Never going to happen. and FYI Wushah and myself wanted this guy back when Coker was fired.

Patterson was my #1 choice last go around....nothing he has done from that point has changed my mind.

Just thinking about it, did anyone ever think that Rich Rodriguez would ever leave WVU?

Money + prestige talk very loudly

Coaches are the biggest mercenaries around nowadays

No one can win with that quarterback. He would give Kirby Weeman a run for his money as the WOAT. But, UT gave up. That was an atrocious performance at home. But for 1 fluke play, they score 3 points in that game.
