Prediction market Kalshi filed notice to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Wednesday that it intends to offer trading on the transfer portal, prompting the NCAA to say it "vehemently opposes college sports prediction markets."

For those of us who don’t bet, what does this mean? Is this bad?

It means that people can place bets on players guessing whether or not they'll enter the Portal.

Which means in theory, a player himself, or someone close to him, can place prop bets on a player with beforehand knowledge as to what his decision would be.

It also opens the door for players that may not have entered the Portal to be more enticed to do so. Although, that element was already there via tampering.
