He exceeded expectations for a true freshman. Those numbers will improve remember he was literally a couple of months removed from highschool graduation. Compared to someone like manzeil or Winston who had a year of being groomed and learning the systems
 
If Kaaya is doing everything reported in the media he will improve as will the Canes. I do not care for Manny's negativity, when related to a player that has exceed expectations. However, I would think Kaaya would be the first to indicate where he has and where he needs to improve.
 
Part of the Red zone problems was Al's love of putting Gus in after Duke got us down there. Gus is big but does not run big. We were 3rd and long way to much and Cole share much of the blame. 4th quarter is Al's failure point, so I am not sure how much is Brad's problem. All that said, clearly he has room to improve.
 
maybe if they stopped calling so many dive or stretch plays on 3rd and long that would help too

He played great in the first half and was on fire playing the cup cakes..
he fell off like 10% of effec in the 2nd half and the whole ******* team tanked after FSU....

Look for him to have a sensational year
 
the three areas that need improvement (third downs, fourth quarter and red zone) are lapses in play calling and not imho kaaya's fault. blame that on the head coach and the OC.
 
He also needs to be able to learn to throw the 15 yard out pattern in this offense, he was terrible at that last year.
 
Coaching definitely played a part in these stats. Never seen so many bubble screens on 3rd down or in the red zone since Pat Nix.
 
I wonder how much of the problem in the 4th quarter relates to having a limited playbook because of Kaaya's youth? The play calling didn't seem to change much as the game wore on, which to me means the defense started to pick up on what we're running as the game wore on.

If that was the case, I'd say Kaaya should do much better in the 4th quarter this year. I would imagine our offensive playbook will have many more plays this season.

Or it could be that our play calling got conservative late in the game... or both.
